I first read the original novel of Perfume in 1993, and while I was eager to see a film adaptation, I was unsure if it would be possible to do it justice. I was not disappointed by this film, it captured the spirit and the feel of the book perfectly, exactly as I imagined it when reading it all those years ago. Thoroughly engrossing, it was like being in France all those years ago, witnessing the events first hand. I often hear comments that film adaptations aren't as good as the book: this one definitely bucks that trend. Fantastic!
