The name of Britain's most celebrated naval tactician is inextricable linked to 'victory'. Whether in reference to his famous ship or in memory of his many triumphs Horatio Nelson lived a charmed existence upon the waves. His life on dry land however was to prove less 'victorious' and far more controversial as his personal dealings became something of a scandal. A married man yet openly flaunting his affair with Lady Emma Hamilton wife of Lord Hamilton Nelson caused outrage in both London society and within the higher echelons of the navy. Narrated by Graham McTavish.

In 1944 Hitler ordered the full-scale production of what he deemed ""vengeance weapons"" a new breed of aircraft designed to change German's declining military fortunes. The skies over Europe would soon be witness to the introduction of the jet fighter. The potentially devastating ME 262 and Arado 234 were undoubted breakthroughs in aviation technology yet underdevelopment lack of materials and desperation meant they would have no effect on the outcome of World War Two. Jet fighters such as the ME 163 ""Komet"" and the disastrous Heinkel HE 162 ""Salamander"" would prove more dangerous to their pilots and ground staff than to the enemy.

Famous names like the Messerschmitt BF 109 the Focke-Wulf 190 and of course the dreadess STuka secured Germany early success during their campaign across Europe. By the end of the war the once mighty Luftwaffe was a pitiful shadow of its former self; a beaten force shattered by the massive superiority of the Allied airpower. With extensive 3D computer graphics expert analysis and rare footage taken from both Allied and German sources this DVd looks at the rise and fall of the Luftwaffa during WWII.

The Wicker Man:A notoriously troubled production notwithstanding, the controversial cult classic The Wicker Man is now regarded as a classic of British cinema. Edward Woodward stars as Sergeant Howie, a naive young police officer sent to Summerisle, a secluded island off the coast of Scotland, to investigate the disappearance of a young girl named Rowan. When he arrives there, he finds a very tight-knit community that is mistrustful and hostile to outsiders. No one is willing to even acknowledge Rowan's disappearance. Soon, Howie begins to realize that the town might, in fact, be a strange pagan cult, one given to unbridled sexuality and possible human sacrifice. Seeking an audience with the oddly civilized Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee), Howie hopes to get to the bottom of the mystery, but instead he finds something more shocking than he could have ever imagined. Written by Anthony Shaffer (Sleuth, Death On The Nile) and directed by Robin Hardy, the eerie film paints a disturbing portrait of society which has given into bizarre rituals and Bacchanalian excess, and where anything goes. Though recognition may have been a long time coming, The Wicker Man stands as a strikingly original achievement which will haunt you forever. The Wicker Tree:From the makers of the cult classic The Wicker Man, and directed by The Wicker Man's Robin Hardy, a Texas gospel singer and her boyfriend, both devout evangelical Christians, are sent to Scotland on a mission to spread the word of God. • For Queen And Country [1988] For Queen And Country | DVD | (29/03/2004) from £N/A  |  Saving you £N/A (N/A%)  |  RRP £5.99

Denzel Washington adopts a British accent for the grim if compelling, 1989 social drama, For Queen and Country. Akin in mood and story to several American films (notably Rolling Thunder) about Vietnam veterans who return home to face indifference or hostility, For Queen and Country stars Washington as paratrooper Reuben James, a decorated veteran of the Falklands war and Britain's occupation of Northern Ireland. Returning to civilian life in the early '80s, Reuben discovers Thatcher's England (specifically London's East End) to be an intensely racist, violent ground for class warfare, crime, and drugs. Unable to find work, hassled by white cops, pressured by old mates to run afoul of the law, and rejected by a woman (Amanda Redman) who sees him as another product of a cruel and bloody era, Reuben's hope diminishes despite efforts to do the right thing. The downbeat, predictable drama is elevated by Washington's charismatic performance. --Tom Keogh
