Meet Dr Martin Ellingham - an excellent medical mind yet has a questionable bedside manner! This grumpy Doctor is forced to give up his career as a successful surgeon and retrain as a GP - due to his morbid fear of blood, resulting in him passing out. It is in sleepy Cornish hamlet Portwenn that he finds himself, dealing with an array of weird and wonderful illnesses... as well as people!
