Revealing the events behind Kurt Cobain's death as seen through the eyes of Tom Grant the private investigator hired by Courtney Love in 1994 to track down her missing husband (Kurt Cobain) only days before his deceased body was found at their Seattle home. Cobain's death was ruled as suicide by the police (a reported self-inflicted gunshot wound). However doubts have circulated for over two decades as to the legitimacy of this ruling especially due to the work of Mr. Grant a former L.A. County Sheriff's detective who did his own investigation and determined there was significant empirical and circumstantial evidence to conclude that foul play could very well have occurred. The film develops as a narrative mystery with cinematic re-creations interviews with key experts and witnesses and the examination of official artefacts from the 1994 case.

British Civil Aviation -Imperial Airways The Definitive Newsreel History 1924-1939 | DVD | (27/06/2011)
from £6.85 | Saving you £-0.86 (-14.40%) | RRP
This is the definitive celebration of Britains first national airline Imperial Airways. Imperial Airways were the forerunner of BOAC BEA and the British Airways of today. In 1924 the British Government amalgamated many of the complicated array of pioneering small British airlines into one company Imperial Airways. Original newsreels give us a fascinating and detailed insight into early operations from Londons first airport in Croydon - At first the passengers flew in comfort while the pilot still sat in an open cockpit! By 1926 there were whole fleets of airliners and new flying boats were commissioned. Amy Johnson arrived from Australia in 1929 and by 1930 the new Handley Page four-engined airliners became reality. Pioneering is dangerous - as the R-101 Airship crash proved to the airlines. Imperial Airways even experimented with a radio link between The Flying Scotsman and one of its aircraft. Imperial Airways flew the first car and even transmitted Jack Hylton and his band live from the air. Throughout the 1930s Imperial Airways kept expanding throughout the Empire over to Australia. We spend 24 hours in Sharjah and witness a nasty crash at Croydon!
Last Night Of The Proms 2000 | DVD | (03/09/2001)
from £N/A | Saving you £N/A (N/A%) | RRP
Numerous compilations of The Last Night of the Proms have been available in the past. Yet it makes sense to see and hear the event whole, and the 2000 Last Night was among the best of recent years. The range of music is excellent: Bach bizarrely orchestrated by Elgar, Mozart's Fourth Violin Concerto given with classical poise by Hilary Hahn, and Jane Eaglen thrilling in the closing scene from Richard Strauss' opera Salome. In the second half, a scintillating and newly discovered jazz suite by Shostakovich, Percy Grainger's affectionate Tribute to Stephen Foster, and Delius' heartfelt Walk to the Paradise Garden. That it all works so well is a tribute to Sir Andrew Davis, who conducts with conviction and is clearly enjoying himself in the standard items by Elgar, Wood, Arne and Parry. As his last concert at the helm of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, it's fitting that he received a special presentation--following on from his typically enthusiastic Last Night speech. On the DVD: Presentation is excellent, with profiles of the main works and interviews with the artists performing them. Picture quality reproduces the colourful array of flags and festivities with admirable definition and naturalness. Sound quality is good, though recorded levels vary between music and interviews, and may need some volume adjustment during playback. There are 23 access points, and an introduction to the Last Night that sets the scene without pre-empting the occasion. Whether or not you've attended the event in person, you won't get a better sense of the fun, frivolity, and also the musical quality of the Last Night than here. --Richard Whitehouse
