Doubt
Adapted by director John Patrick Shanley from his own play, the film "Doubt" stars Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams and Viola Davis. Set in the Bronx in 1964, this drama follows Sister Aloysius Beauvier (Streep), a stern and dominant headmistress, who rejects modernism and runs her Catholic school, St Nicholas, with an iron fist.
Trouble begins, when one day; naive Sister James draws Sister Aloysius attention to Father Flynn (Hoffman), the liberal priest of the adjoining school, who is suspected of having an inappropriate relationship with the school's first black student. Sister Aloysius confronts Father Flynn and when he refuses to discuss the matter, she takes it as proof that he is guilty and is undeterred by the lack of evidence. However, when Aloysius threatens to unearth the truth and force Father Flynn to resign, a clash of personalities and battle of wills begins!
Doubt is a provocative and compelling story, teeming with outstanding performances and even a few laughs.
