Sick of his 19th Century romantic heroine, Misery Chastain, novelist Paul Sheldon (James Caan) kills her off and writes a more personal, modern novel. When his car crashes in remote mountains he is saved by 'number one fan' Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates), who adores Misery and has even named her pig after her. As she nurses him back to health at her remote dwelling, he realises she is not just going to let him go...

As a 16 year old, films from the 90s aren't really my thing .

After being convinced by a sister to watch this film, I wasn't so sure, I was afraid it would be another novel by Stephen King ruined by the film industry. But boy I was wrong. The first 5 minutes was the only boring part of the film and thats just him driving! As soon as Kathy Bates appears on the screen, the film sparked into life. Everytime she appears, you sit glued to the screen anxiously waiting for what lies ahead for Paul Sheldon. A great "thriller" as its not scary and doesn't involve much violence and brilliantly written.

I don't think that all that many films are excellent but this one is just that.
It really drags you into the story, it makes you really feel for the guy, I won't say too much {don't wanna spoil it} The things you see in this film are amazing, the story comes together brilliantly, it has it's humour parts but the 18 is there for a reason. If you like a truly disturbing tale then watch this, it is so dark it gets to you .
Overall brilliant, the acting is spot on, the directing is awsome, you can't really pick any faults with this film without being a complete {for lack of a better word} prig.
    Just sit back and enjoy.
