The nature of this boxset is irrepressible!!!!!
Very little in the way of extras here, but I think most people who remember this show are here for the nostalgia anyway, so it's not too much of an issue.
For people of a certain age (dare I say 30+?) - this will bring memories flooding back of playground re-enactments, pretending to rip imaginary hair from chests to conjure up monkey armies or producing the monkey staff from behind your ear!
Truly inspired in places, totally off it's head in others - this certainly was the punkiest monkey that ever popped.
Give it a go and see what all the nostalgic fun is about!

This is TV nostalgia at it's very best. The punkiest Monkey that ever popped onto our screens. There are a whopping 52 episodes in this DVD set which covers all of those aired in the UK and 13 that weren't. The DVD's are well presented in a sturdy box that looks good on the shelf.

Anyone who has seen these shows will undoubtedly have this on their "to buy" list. I knew few children who weren't pretending to be Monkey following a screening of this show on it's original run. Watching it again as an adult, it's even funnier than I ever remembered.

Pigsy and his overindulgence, Sandy's philisophical musings, Tripitaka's outbursts and especially the cheek of Monkey. As if this wasn't enough, the music is fantastic. Closing credits have never been so much fun as when they are accompanied by "In Gandhara, Gandhara, they say it was in India...."

The extras are limited and repeated on each disc but with TV this good, who needs them?

When I was a child, the nature of Monkey was irrepressible. With these DVD's, it still is.
