The Ides of March was directed by George Clooney and stars George Clooney and Ryan Gosling. This bleak political drama thriller tells the story of a naïve, ambitious junior campaign manager (Stephen Meyers played by Gosling) working for the Democratic presidential candidate (Governor Mike Morris played by Clooney) as he sets off on his first frenetic campaign trail.

Despite using all his idealistic best intentions to strive in his determination to help his party he unwittingly becomes side-tracked at every possible juncture. As the presidential primary starts to escalate, not only does he become distracted by his own personal helpless dalliance with the sexy Molly (Evan Rachel Wood), but his attention becomes completely hijacked by a plethora of other diversions including the unearthing of politically embarrassing secrets, widespread corruption, scheming conspiracies, treachery, betrayal, calculated retribution, misuse of power and more.

This innocent young man's eyes are soon opened to the bitter, behind the scenes, dirty political trickery surrounding the election campaign.
