The Soloist is a remarkable true-life story that tackles head-on issues of homelessness and the plight of the mentally ill.
The L.A Times' Award-winning columnist Steve Lopez is on the hunt for a story when he meets schizophrenic Nathaniel Ayers, a homeless former musical genius playing on the streets of Los Angeles's Skid Row. Inspired by his story and passion for music, Lopez begins to write stories about Ayres and attempts to help him off the streets. Despite the setbacks and Ayre's personal demons, Lopez bonds with the homeless man and their friendship transforms both of their lives.
