Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is the third film in the Gothic Underworld film series, focusing primarily the characters and the events leading up to the age-old feud between the vampires and their former slaves, the Lycans. This warfare is traced back to its origins when, in the dark ages, a young Lycan named Lucian emerges as a mighty leader, who gathers the werewolves together to rise up and overthrow their brutal ruler, Viktor, the vampire king who has enslaved them.
