Life is cheap is this corner of Africa but Webb s deputy, Mike Bradley, (Peter Fonda, Easy rider) has begun to realise how bloodthirsty his boss really is. The raid is planned by a motley bunch of mercenaries including O.J. Simpson (The Naked Gun), Hugh O Brian (Game of Death, The Shootist) and the menacing Christopher Lee (the Star Wars series and The Lord Of The Rings), who quickly demonstrate by killing an innocent women how they can be as merciless as Webb. • Barb Wire [DVD] Barb Wire | DVD | (04/12/2017) from £8.99  |  Saving you £N/A (N/A%)  |  RRP £N/A

Remember the old days, when Pamela Anderson was still just a Playboy Playmate turned Baywatch babe? You know--back before the bootleg release of her infamous home video with then-husband and ne'er-do-well rocker Tommy Lee, at which time the whole world got to compare Pam's barely adequate acting chops with her formidable skill at fellatio? Yes, those were the days (1996, to be exact), when a movie like Barb Wire represented dubious progress for the busty blonde, who was determined to make as big a splash on the big-screen as she did in the world's most popular syndicated TV series. Set in the year 2017 when the Second Civil War is in full force, this sci-fi action thriller stars Pam in the title role--a leather-clad biker babe ("don't call me babe," she warns) who runs a nightclub in the last free city in America. The rest of country is controlled by the "Congressional Directorate," a dictatorial superpower which suspects Barb of trafficking in black-market contraband. That gets her into plenty of trouble (and a lot of cleavage-revealing costumes), and ... well, if any of this sounds even vaguely familiar, it's because this comic book-inspired movie is really just a shamelessly breast-enhanced variation on Casablanca, with Pam Anderson in the Bogart role. Taken for what it is, it's a brazen folly with action to spare, and as guilty pleasures go it's surprisingly enjoyable. What--you were expecting Oscar material? --Jeff Shannon

Borel relentlessly hunts down these welcome trespassers, particularly Totoche, the most wily and elusive among them, who has befriended Paul unbeknownst to his adoptive parents. In the heart of Sologne, Paul will learn about the forest, its mysteries and the complexities of life alongside Totoche, but a heavier secret weighs down the estate as Paul's arrival seems to be no accident

NEW RESTORED 4K DIGITAL TRANSFER commissioned by the Wim Wenders Foundation and supervised by director Wim Wenders. One of the key films of the New German Cinema, ALICE IN THE CITIES marked the emergence of Wim Wenders as one of the most distinctive European filmmakers of the 1970s. The first in Wenders Road Movie Trilogy (followed by WRONG MOVE and KINGS OF THE ROAD) it is also widely accepted to be one of the director s most poignant films. Philip Winter, a journalist with writers block, becomes the guardian of eight year-old Alice (Yella Rottlander) when her mother leaves the girl with him briefly at an American airport, only never to return. Back in Germany, an unlikely friendship develops between the two as they embark on a journey to find Alice s grandmother. • Black Sabbath [Blu-ray] Black Sabbath | Blu Ray | (18/12/2017) from £13.99  |  Saving you £N/A (N/A%)  |  RRP £N/A

Black Sunday was such a huge hit that a follow-up was swiftly demanded, and horror maestro Mario Bava duly devised this three-part horror anthology blending modern and period stories. In the giallo-style ?The Telephone', a woman is terrorised by her former pimp after his escape from prison, and tries to escape him with the help of her lesbian lover, who has a dark secret of her own. In the Victorian-era ?The Drop of Water', a nurse steals a ring from the corpse of a dead spiritualist, which naturally tries to get it back. But it's the 19th-century Russian story ?The Wurdalak' that comes closest to Bava's earlier classic, with the great Boris Karloff as a much-loved paterfamilias who might not be entirely what he seems. Features: Bava's direction is as stylish as ever, and Black Sabbath is almost a compendium of his favourite themes. High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) and Standard Definition DVD presentation of two versions of the film; ?I tre volti della paura' the European version with score by Roberto Nicolosi & ?Black Sabbath' the re-edited and re-dubbed AIP version with Les Baxter score, on home video for the first time English SDH subtitles for English Audio and a new English subtitle translation of the Italian audio Audio Commentary with Bava biographer and expert Tim Lucas

BEYOND THE POWER OF AN EXORCIST The mid-1970s saw the rise in popularity of films centering on the subject of parapsychology, led by Carrie Brian De Palma's classic tale of telekinetic terror. Precognition, or future sight, would be the topic under exploration in Robert Allen Schnitzer's contribution to the psychic craze: the chilling and much-overlooked The Premonition. Mother Sheri Bennett (Sharon Farrell, Night of the Comet, Sweet Sixteen) is assailed by terrifying visions in which a strange woman attempts to steal away her five-year-old daughter Janie. Are these bizarre occurrences the result of some sort of mental disturbance, or is something much more sinister afoot? Featuring a haunting score from accomplished classical composer Henry Mollicone, The Premonition has remained unjustly obscure over the years but is heralded as a true classic of '70s US horror moviemaking by genre aficionados.
