Season 1 Set in rural Louisiana HBO’s new award-winning series True Blood follows the world of vampires who have just recently “come out of the coffin.” For the first time in history a Japanese-manufactured synthetic blood allows vampires to co-exist peacefully with humans but the question remains…will they? The series centers around Sookie Stackhouse (Academy Award® and Golden Globe® winner Anna Paquin The Piano True Blood) a telepathic waitress who winds up falling for vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer The Starter Wife). Season 2 Welcome to Bon Temps home to mystery Southern sensuality and dark secrets. For Sookie Stackhouse life is more dangerous than ever as she and Bill become even closer. Meanwhile Tara finds herself under a spell; Jason joins an anti-vampire sect; Eric recruits Sookie to find a missing vampire; and Maryann reveals a special power. Then after a shocking discovery Sookie Bill and Sam must protect the town from a diabolical plan that raises this award-winning series to bloody new heights. Season 3 In Bon Temps everyone has something to hide. But when new threats emerge no one can conceal the secrets of their past. After Sookie discovers that Bill’s been kidnapped she heads to Mississippi where she becomes entangled in a world ruled by a pack of vicious werewolves and the powerful Vampire King Russell Edgington. There her powers resurface and she learns that Bill may not be trusted. Eric is also drawn to the King’s domain to settle an old score; Tara dives deep into turmoil; Jason falls for a mysterious woman; Lafayette can’t avoid love or demons; Jessica sharpens her vampire skills; and Sam uncovers the truth about his birth family. It all leads up to the revelation of the series... Sookie’s true identity. Season 4 Sookie finds herself entangled in a love triangle – torn between a vengeful Bill the new Vampire King of Mississippi and Eric who’s not the former Viking he once was. Led by a charismatic witch named Marnie who threatens to let no one living or dead stand in her way a powerful coven tempts Lafayette Tara and Jesus with otherworldly powers. Jessica tries to adjust to a domestic life while Jason finds himself alone in werepanther territory. Arlene and Terry come to terms with their highly unusual baby and Alcide finds himself caught in the clutches of an old flame. As old alliances crumble and new relationships form Season 4 of True Blood proves that nobody’s safe when there’s magic in the air. Season 5 The fate of all humanity is at stake in the fifth season of this unique bold and undeniably sexy series. While Sookie deals with Tara’s shooting and her unpredictable faerie powers Bill and Eric find themselves called into action by the Vampire Authority. Alcide battles new werewolves J.D. and Martha; Sam searches for shifter murderers; and Jason struggles with his attraction to Jessica. It all adds up to a wicked bloody climax between the Authority and the bloodthirsty vampire fundamentalists that will affect the lives of everyone living and dead in this unrelenting action-packed season of HBO’s otherworldly phenomenon. Season 6 The Authority is in flames. TruBlood is in short supply. As Bill comes to terms with his newfound powers after emerging reincarnated from a pool of blood humans are in open conflict with vampires like never before. Meanwhile Sookie and Jason must steel themselves for an encounter with their parents’ killer: the mysterious and ancient Warlow. Mixing romance suspense mystery and humor the show takes place in a world where vampires and humans co-exist after vampires have come out of the coffin thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans as a nutritional source. The series follows waitress and part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) who can hear people’s thoughts vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård). Alan Ball (creator of the Emmy®-winning HBO series “Six Feet Under”) created the show which is based on the bestselling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. Season 7 In season 7 a season-opening battle between raging Hep-Vamps and their Bon Temps prey sets the stage for a season-long series of hair-raising denouements for Sookie Bill Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) Jason (Ryan Kwanten) Sam (Sam Trammell) Alcide (Joe Manganiello) Tara (Rutina Wesley) and their human/vampire allies and adversaries. As we’ll see some of True Blood’s most beloved figures will meet cruel fates while others will cheat death (true and otherwise) to forge happily-ever-after relationships that will leave fans surprised and ultimately satisfied. Miami Vice: The Complete Collection | Blu Ray | (12/12/2016)
from £81.29 | Saving you £N/A (N/A%) | RRP
To hear the opening beats of Jan Hammer's percussive, propulsive Miami Vice theme is to be instantly transported back to 1984. But this groundbreaking series, with its cinematic sensibility, cool clothes, and killer soundtrack is no mere blast from the past. It still rocks. This three-disc set would be worthless if it didn't. Music was an integral part of Miami Vice's hip vibe. The soundtrack propelled the stories and established the mood like no series before it. So the first thing you want to know is: Have the music rights been secured for this DVD release? In the pilot episode, does Phil Collins's "In the Air Tonight" still play ominously as vice undercover cops Crockett and Tubbs speed toward a bust? Does Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" serenade Sonny and Gina on his boat in the episode "One-Eyed Jack?" And what would the benchmark episode, "Smuggler's Blues" be without Glenn Frey's instant classic? From the Rolling Stones on a boombox to Elvis Presley singing "Rubberneckin'" on a TV, Vice's cutting-edge soundtrack has been preserved and honed in 5.1 surround sound glory. Miami Vice made stars out of Don Johnson, Philip Michael Thomas, and Edward James Olmos, who won an Emmy as the intense, taciturn Lt. Castillo (watching him bust some martial arts moves in "Golden Triangle" is like Yoda cutting lose in Attack of the Clones), but the first season also offers time-capsule glimpses of actors on the cusp of stardom, including a pre-L.A. Law Jimmy Smits in the pilot, a pre-Crime Story Dennis Farina in "One-Eyed Jack," and a pre-Moonlighting Bruce Willis in "No Exit." Miami Vice put a neon sheen on cop-show convention. Its fashion sense (pastel suits, no belt, no socks), and the brilliantly employed freeze frames are still arresting. Miami Vice was a TV watershed, and this DVD set does it full justice. --Donald Liebenson
