  • Cane Toads 3D - The Conquest (Blu-ray 3D + Blu Ray) Cane Toads 3D - The Conquest (Blu-ray 3D + Blu Ray) | Blu Ray | (27/02/2012) from £3.49  |  Saving you £13.53 (67.70%)  |  RRP £19.99

Cane Toads is without doubt one of the most unusual, surprising, enjoyable and amusing films of the year. Mark Lewis (Cane Toads: An Unnatural History) explores one of Australia's greatest environmental catastrophes as he follows the unstoppable march of the cane toad across the Australian continent. Despised by many, venerated by some, the toad has occupied a nation's consciousness achieving both cult and criminal status.Despite its international origin the cane toad has become uniquely Australian - yet, for a world wrestling with the idea that we have irretrievably altered our own ecosystem, its story holds universal relevance. Featuring a host of engaging characters as well as thousands of toads, Cane Toads: The Conquest 3D is a humorous yet thought-provoking journey into the issue of invasive species.

  • The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray)[Region A & B] The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray) | Blu Ray | (17/09/2012) from £12.95  |  Saving you £12.00 (48.00%)  |  RRP £24.99

The third film based on C.S. Lewis's fantasy books, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader opens three years after the Pevensie children return from battling to restore peace to Narnia in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Edmund (Skandar Keynes) and Lucy (Georgie Henley) are still staying with Eustace (Will Poulter), while Peter and Susan have gotten older and moved on to school and America, respectively. Still as surly and unbelieving as ever, Eustace continues to mock his cousins for their Narnian fantasies. But when water begins spilling into their room from a painting hanging on the wall, all three young people are swept onto the decks of the sailing ship known as the Dawn Treader, which is afloat in the waters of Narnia. This time, there are no wars to be fought in Narnia. But it soon becomes evident that the trio is destined to help King Caspian (Ben Barnes) solve the mystery of the disappearance of the seven lords of Telmar, and prevent the ongoing sacrifices of large groups of Narnian people to the evil green mist. So begins a quest through uncharted waters that will require each of the children to resist temptations like beauty and power, and to conquer the darkness within themselves in order to defeat the threat to Narnia's people. The battle promises to yield unexpected heroes, and through their journey, Edmund, Lucy, Eustace, and even King Caspian and Reepicheep (voiced by Simon Pegg) each grow and mature. Eventually, Aslan (voiced by Liam Neeson) will ask each adventurer to make an important choice that will forever influence his or her future. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader features plenty of high adventure, sword-fighting action, and personal peril, and while it fails to fully capitalise on the characters' motivations or to earn viewers' full emotional investment, it is still a solid addition to the Narnia film series. • Sanctum (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray) [2011] Sanctum (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray) | Blu Ray | (13/06/2011) from £25.49  |  Saving you £4.50 (15.00%)  |  RRP £29.99

If there's an undersea adventure with high-tech equipment, macho posturing, and lots of underwater photography, you know James Cameron must be swimming around the vicinity. Add the fact that Sanctum was released to theaters in 3-D, and it's clinched. Cameron served as executive producer to this crazy tale of a cave-diving expedition forced to improvise when a typhoon inundates their New Guinea location. (The film, shot in Australia, is allegedly based on a true event by co-screenwriter Andrew Wight, but it might be safe to conclude that the original incident was a jumping-off point for the high melodrama on display here.) A globetrotting billionaire (Ioan Gruffudd, of Fantastic Four) is underwriting this exploration of a hidden cave maze, which explains why he gets to bring his girlfriend (Alice Parkinson) along. As a measure of their thrill-seeking habits, we are told they met on an Everest climb. The cave-diving boss is a crusty old pro (Richard Roxburgh), who is rough on his underlings and even rougher on his teenage son (Rhys Wakefield); naturally, the cataclysm that follows will be an occasion for some extreme father-son fence mending. As cornball as these elements are, and as generally toneless as director Alister Grierson's ear is with the dialogue scenes, Sanctum does work up some bona fide thrills: the sheer power of water is unleashed at a few memorable spots, as is the panic of losing an oxygen tank at a crucial moment. It's also pretty brutal, with a steep body count and a few grotesque bits of bodily injury. It ought to be easy to dismiss Sanctum as a silly piece of boy's adventure, but--curse you, Cameron!--one must admit that the thing is awfully effective. --Robert Horton

  • Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy) [2011][Region Free] Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy) | Blu Ray | (02/12/2011) from £6.99  |  Saving you £25.23 (76.50%)  |  RRP £32.99

Correctly billed as the beginning of the end, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 kicks off the two-part finale to the massively popular movie franchise, and it does it with some style. It shoots out of the traps, too. It?s established in double-quick time that the evil Lord Voldemort is closing in on his play to kill Harry Potter, and courtesy of a tremendous opening escape sequence, the chase is soon on. This means that Harry, along with Ron and Hermione, spends the film away from the sort-of-safe grounds of Hogwarts, and they?re up against some sizeable dangers. It does all present Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 with a bit of a problem, though. Already having to contend with being the first half of a story that many are craving the ending to, it?s an elongated road movie for long periods, and not always one that?s able to sustain the full sense of menace and excitement. But when it does perform, as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 often does, it?s excellent blockbuster entertainment. There?s a boldness to large sequences of it, too, not least a terrific animated segment, and you get a lot of entertainment for your money, here. And, without question, it looks stunning in high definition. No corners have been cut here at all, and the cinematic quality of the picture and sound is reference standard. It ends with a bit of a sudden application of the brakes rather than a natural lead in to the next film, and it?s too long, certainly. Yet the pentultimate Harry Potter movie keeps the standard high, and most certainly whets the appetite for the final reckoning to come? --Jon Foster
