While Prime Minister PW Botha prevaricates over meeting Mandela in person Mandela patiently seeks a meeting with Botha. The slow-brewing Project Mandela comes to fruition on 11 February 1990 when Mandela walks through the gates of Pollsmoor to freedom and into history. • BRM - British Racing Motors [DVD]BRM - British Racing Motors | DVD | (17/05/2010) from £13.48   |  Saving you £-3.49 (-34.90%)   |  RRP £9.99

A History Of Motor Racing brings you the story of the names that were to change the direction of the Grand Prix and Sports Car racing history - the cars the drivers the characters the big race glory and the tragedy. BRM was founded just after the Second World War by Raymond Mays who had built several hill-climb and road racing cars under the ERA brand before the war and Peter Burton a long-time associate. Mays' pre-war successes inspired him to build an all-British Grand Prix car for the post-war era as a national prestige project (which naturally he would drive himself!) with the initial backing both financially and in kind and labour of the British motor industry and its suppliers. Without doubt the project created huge public expectations even King George VI visited Sterling Moss testing the car but progress was slow until Sir Alfred Owen who had by the late 1950's taken over the project promoted Tony Rudd to Chief Design Engineer. The focus was targeted on developing a winning Formula One racing car the P57 and in 1962 it all came together as BRM won the Constructors' Title and its principal driver Graham Hill became World Champion. In 1963 1964 1965 and 1971 BRM came second in the Constructors' Competition before bowing out of the sport in 1977.

  • Minority Report Limited Edition Steelbook with Artcards [Blu-ray]Minority Report Limited Edition Steelbook with Artcards | Blu Ray | (17/05/2010) from £N/A   |  Saving you £N/A (N/A%)   |  RRP £24.99

The science-fiction thriller Minority Report directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise is based on a short story by renowned writer Philip K. Dick. In the year 2054 in Washington D.C. murder has been eliminated thanks to Precrime a program that uses the visions of three psychics called Pre-Cogs (an abbreviation for precognitive thinkers) to arrest and imprison would-be murderers before they have a chance to kill. Tom Cruise plays John Anderton a Precrime enforcer who believes in the system for his own personal reasons--years back his young son was abducted and he has dealt with the loss by becoming a high-strung Precrime officer. The director of Precrime (Max von Sydow) is eager to take the program national and feels threatened by an ambitious federal agent (Colin Farrell) who is bent on finding a flaw in the system. When Anderton finds himself accused of the future murder of a man he's never met his faith in Precrime is instantly shaken. He goes on the run and is trailed by the relentless Precrime police. In the tradition of Blade Runner (also based on a Dick story) Minority Report is a dark brooding vision of the future. Spielberg expertly mixes thrilling chase and suspense sequences (the best of which involves Anderton being pursued by eye-scanning mechanical spiders) and stunning special effects with a challenging look at society's willingness to sacrifice privacy and the notion of free will for convenience and security. Minority Report is a thought-provoking and exciting film that ranks with Spielberg's best.

  • 1966 FA Cup Final, Everton V Sheffield Wednesday [DVD]1966 FA Cup Final, Everton V Sheffield Wednesday | DVD | (17/05/2010) from £20.23   |  Saving you £-5.24 (N/A%)   |  RRP £14.99

It was the greatest comeback in the competition's history and Everton Vs Sheffield Wednesday 1966 FA Cup Final is the full story of that incredible match. Everton hadn't been in an FA Cup Final for 33 long years. Could 1966 be the year that they finally brought the trophy back to Goodison Park? The run to the final had gone according to plan as the team cruised through each round without conceding a single goal. It was Sheffield Wednesday that now stood between the Toffees and cup glory. The record of not letting in a goal didn't last too long! Everton went a goal down after just 4 minutes and it got worse for Everton just after the break when Gordon West conceded a second Wednesday goal. With half an hour remaining the cause looked lost. Cue the man from Cornwall and the unlikely hero Mike Trebilcock. It was a brave decision by manager Harry Catterick to play Trebilcock who had only made 7 league appearances all season. But the Cornishman was up to the task and in 5 astonishing minutes had put Everton level at 2-2. From then on there was only one winner and the decisive goal came 16 minutes from time when Derek Temple latched on to a mistake from Wednesday's Gerry Young running through to slot past Ron Springett. This was a great cup final full of flowing skillful football from two excellent attacking teams - one of the very best.
