  The 2009/10 Premier League season was one of the most dramatic title races in the history of the competition. There were constant twists and turns which saw the battle between Chelsea and Manchester United go down to the last day of the season. Chelsea lifted the trophy for the first time since 2006 as United fell just one point short of a 12th title. The pursuit for fourth spot became a tight affair between Manchester City Tottenham Hotspur Liverpool and Aston Villa. For much of the season the entire bottom half was separated by only a hand full of crucial points as Sunderland Bolton Wanderers Wigan Athletic West Ham United Hull City Burnley and Wolves all had to fight the drop zone. Mixed with off-pitch action showcasing some incredible games and goals including an audacious long range free-kick from Wigan's Maynor Figueroa plus top quality strikes from the likes of Wayne Rooney Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba all made sure the 09/10 season was full of emotion tension passion and pride to be the best in England's domestic league.
