  After Bruce Lee's untimely death in 1973 and the global success of Enter The Dragon two 90 minute feature films were created to capitalise on Lee's worldwide recognition. The second of these films Fury Of The Dragon was released theatrically in 1976. Starring Bruce Lee as Kato and Van Williams as the Green Hornet the 1960s crime fighting duo - by day Britt Reid publisher-editor of the Daily Sentinel and his chauffeur/man servant Kato - battle relentlessly against the forces of urban evil. This movie takes Kato and the Green Hornet on four epic adventures including trying to stop a plot to oust a young prince of foreign power and exposing two crooked cops a case that leads to the Green Hornet being wounded and then nearly killed. Kato and the Green Hornet are then pushed to the very limit by a well organised gang carrying out a million dollar art heist and using a fantastic ray gun to remove anyone in their path. Could this include our crime fighting duo? Finally the last adventure takes our heroes into the dark underworld of drug trafficking testing all their skills in crime fighting...

  In the cactus-studded Mexican backcountry of the 1860s, a surly drifter who could easily be mistaken for the Man with No Name becomes protector and lethal helpmate to a red-haired nun wanted by the French for aiding the Juarista revolutionaries. Essentially a two-character showcase for the newly stellar Clint Eastwood and what was beginning to seem the poststellar Shirley MacLaine (subbing for Elizabeth Taylor), this sardonic study in testy collaboration, mutual deception and distrust, and slightly creepy sexual attraction is highly rated by a fairly small number of critics--chiefly, one suspects, for the dual-auteur cachet of having been directed by Don Siegel and based on a story by Budd Boetticher. Others deem it an undersauced spaghetti Western and find that the stars grate on the viewer as well as each other. Cinematography by the great Gabriel Figueroa is some consolation, but... if only Boetticher had been allowed to direct. --Richard T. Jameson

  Rio Grande was the last and least memorable of John Ford's famous cavalry trilogy (following Fort Apache and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon), but it none the less maintains an interesting continuity about the gentlemanly rules of military conduct. Here the focus is on the family. While creating a heated controversy over his handling of the Apache war, John Wayne must also contend with disgruntled wife Maureen O'Hara and estranged son Claude Jarman Jr, a new recruit trying to earn his father's love and respect. Ford suggests that there are two conflicting codes of honour in every cavalry officer's life, the personal as well as the professional, and that it takes an act of heroism to maintain both. It's fascinating to observe Wayne's progression throughout the trilogy, as his personal stakes intensify.
