The final film directed by Austrian émigré Hanns Schwartz, The Return of the Scarlet Pimpernel also stars James Mason, Sophie Stewart, and Francis Lister as Sir Percy's ruthless arch-enemy, Chauvelin. The film is featured here in a brand-new transfer from the original elements, in its as-exhibited theatrical aspect ratio. This transfer, however, has intermittent, decades-old film damage so the previously released archive transfer is also included as an alternative viewing experience.
