| RRP Big Country who were one of Britain's most successful international rock acts during the 80's were very popular in Germany where all this material originates. Hit singles and albums many TV and festival appearances they toured consistently there until their end in 2000. This DVD is from 1995. The main concert is from their headline appearance at Das Fest in Karlsruhe. It shows Big Country at their finest. The extra concert is from Wolfsburg where the band played to 110 000 people as one of 10 dates on the Voodoo Lounge tour with The Rolling Stones. The extra's are what will really appeal to the bands sizeable fan base. It contains camcorder footage of club shows that took place on days off from the Stones tour and backstage footage. | RRP In 1974 the most celebrated American R&B acts of the time came together with the most renowned musical groups in Southern Africa for a 12-hour three-night long concert held in Kinshasa Zaire. The pipe dream of musician Hugh Masekela and producer Stewart Levine this music festival became a reality when they convinced boxing promoter Don King to combine the event with The Rumble in the Jungle the epic fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman previously chronicled in the Academy Award winning documentary When We Were Kings. Soul Power is a verit'' documentary entirely composed of footage shot in 1974 at the legendary music festival (dubbed Zaire '74). It shows the experiences and performances of such musical luminaries as James Brown BB King Bill Withers Celia Cruz Miriam Makeba among a host of others. At the peak of their talents and the height of their careers these artists were inspired by this return to their African roots as well as the enthusiasm of the Zairian audience to give the performances of their lives. The concert has achieved mythological significance as the definitive Africa(n)-American musical event of the 20th Century. Soul Power has been crafted from the extensive footage which remained after the making of When We Were Kings which famously documented the epic title fight but only briefly touched upon the Zaire '74 music festival. This footage has remained vaulted for the past 35 years unused unseen until now. Lensed primarily by celebrated cinematographers Albert Maysles (Gimme Shelter Grey Gardens) Paul Goldsmith (Rust Never Sleeps) Kevin Keating (Harlan County USA) and Roderick Young (Wattstax) Soul Power finally provides today's audience the opportunity to experience this historic musical event in all of its magnificent filmed glory restored with incredible sound quality. The DVD includes the 1957 James Dean Story - a documentary on the career of Dean directed by a young Robert Altman and featuring clips from films interviews with family and friends and other archival footage from Dean's life. The CD features the original score composed by Leith Stevens arranged by Bill Holman and Johnny Mandel - and one of the nicest big band dates to come out of the Pacific Jazz catalog of the 1950s! Chet Baker and Bud Shank are the featured soloists of the set - and the group's conducted by Johnny Mandel and Bill Holman both excellent arrangers with a strong feel for soundtrack-oriented material of this sort. Chet sings vocals on a version of 'Let Me be Loved' which is the only standard on the set = as the rest of the tracks are originals by the great Leith Stevens.

Des catches good double-figure pike on his chosen methods finishing with a fine 20 pounder. How to cast play unhook and carefully return each fish is shown and the film is enjoyable as well as instructive. Disc 5 - Still Water Fishing: Keith Arthur has been acknowledged as one of the best anglers in the country. In this video he demonstrates the art of still water fishing. Fishing a lake eleven foot deep he shows how to fish the Waggler and the Sliding Float and also discusses the art of shotting and the most important feeding. He also catches a lot of fish. Filmed with the cooperation of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. Disc 6 - River Fishing: Jan Porter first made his name on the River Trent in the early 1980s fishing the swimfeeder. Be it block and feeder with maggot or the open ended feeder using caster and hemp combinations Jan has very few equals when employing this devastating method. In this film Jan deals with every facet of the method looking at rods lines and the multitude of swimfeeders on the market today. This is the complete programme for the would-be feeder fisherman.

It includes sets from legendary artists such as Big Youth, Leroy Sibbles, Ken Botthe, Delroy Wilson, Tinga Stewart, Roman Stewart, the Blues Busters (Lloyd Campbell and Philip James) and Max Romeo. The 30,000-squarefoot venue, a go-to spot for skate-world renegades in the early '70's, was a de facto community center where teenagers came after school and where families spent the weekend. It was the perfect place to host a historically important music event such as this.

| RRP Zane Grey (1872-1939) was one of the most popular authors of western fiction ever, and 60 years after his death many of his 78 books, such as Riders of the Purple Sage, are still in print. In the silent era Hollywood filmed many of his stories with stars such as Tom Mix and Jack Holt. Grey knew the west well, particularly the deserts of Arizona and Utah, and demanded accurate locations for the films. Later, however, many of these films were remade, sometimes two or three times, without Grey's involvement, and the relation between novels and films grew much looser. The films are quintessential B-moveis: black and white, just over an hour, featuring minor stars and formulaic plots with some music and comedy thrown in. Committed fans of the western genre will not be disappointed, and others will derive pleasure from the delightful Jane Greer in Sunset Pass and Tim Holt, son of Jack, in the other three films. The location shooting, mostly in the Lone Pine area of California, has an authentic feel. Titles are: Under the Tonto Rim (1947); Thunder Mountain (1947); Sunset Pass (1946); Wild Horse Mesa(1947). On the DVD: This box set contains two DVDs, each of which include two movies deriving from Zane Grey novels. Print quality and sound is generally acceptable, though Under the Tonto Rim has poor definition and is a bit scratchy. Aspect ratio is 14:9. The DVDs contain no extras of any kind. --Ed Buscombe
