Neil Jordan's dark, romantic Mona Lisa stars Bob Hoskins as a tough but lovable thug. Just out of prison, he's given a job by his old boss (Michael Caine) as chauffeur to a gorgeous but chilly call-girl (Cathy Tyson). Hoskins is heartbreakingly good as this poor thick sod, while Caine projects an oily malevolence. Tyson is also fine as a woman who has secrets of her own. --Marshall Fine
In 1975, in an America defined by both the self-mythologizing pomp of the upcoming bicentennial and ongoing socio-political turmoil, BOB DYLAN and a band of troubadoursincluding luminaries such as JOAN BAEZ, ALLEN GINSBERG, and JONI MITCHELLembarked on a now-legendary tour known as The Rolling Thunder Revue, a freewheeling variety show that was part traveling counterculture carnival, part spiritual pilgrimage. Director MARTIN SCORSESE (The Irishman) blends behind-the-scenes archival footage, interviews, and narrative mischief, with a magician's sleight of hand, into a zeitgeist-defining cultural record that is as much a concert documentary as it is a slippery, chimerical investigation into memory, time, truth, and illusion. At the centre of it all is the magnetic Dylan, a sphinx-like philosopher-poet singing, with electrifying conviction, to the soul of an anxious nation. DIRECTOR-APPROVED SPECIAL EDITION FEATURES New 4K digital transfer, approved by director Martin Scorsese, with 5.1 surround DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack New interviews with Scorsese, editor David Tedeschi, and writer Larry Ratso Sloman Restored footage of never-before-seen Rolling Thunder Revue performances of Tonight I'll Be Staying Here with You and Romance in Durango, and of a never-before-seen cut of Tangled Up in Blue Trailer English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing PLUS: An essay by novelist Dana Spiotta and writing from the Rolling Thunder Revue tour by author Sam Shepard and poets Allen Ginsberg and Anne Waldman

With spies like these who needs enemies? They're double agents without a sneaking suspicion of their assignment. But if it has anything to do with comedy it's sure to be ""mission accomplished"" for Saturday Night Live alumni Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd romping through their first movie together. As two government desk jockeys who cheat their way through a civil-service entry exam and (incredibly) become globetrotting undercover operatives Aykroyd and Chase generate the verv
Anybody who has written him off because of his string of stinkers--or anybody who's too young to remember The Goodbye Girl --may be shocked at the accomplishment and nuance of Richard Dreyfuss's performance in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Here, he plays a man possessed; contacted by aliens, he (along with other members of the "chosen") is drawn toward the site of the incipient landing: Devil's Tower, in rural Wyoming. As in many Spielberg films, there are no personalized enemies; the struggle is between those who have been called and a scientific establishment that seeks to protect them by keeping them away from the arriving spacecraft. The ship, and the special effects in general, are every bit as jaw-dropping on the small screen as they were in the theater (well, almost). Released in 1977 as a cerebral alternative to the swashbuckling science fiction epics then in vogue, Close Encounters now seems almost wholesome in its representation of alien contact and interested less in philosophising about extra-terrestrials than it is in examining the nature of the inner "call." Ultimately a motion picture about the obsession of the driven artist or determined visionary, Close Encounters comes complete with the stock Spielberg wives and girlfriends who seek to tether the dreamy, possessed protagonists to the more mundane concerns of the everyday. So a spectacular, seminal motion picture indeed, but one with gender politics that are all too terrestrial. --Miles Bethany, Amazon.com
