North Sung Dynasty Liao soldiers invaded China. The traitor Pan-Ren-Mei urged the king to lead armies but was trapped by Liao soldiers. Yang and his family went to the rescue and attempted to get peace at Golden Beach for security. Bruce Leung (Kung Fu Hustle Hapkido) stars as a Sung dynasty general that hides (and trains) in a Buddhist temple to escape and get even with the evil barbarians who killed his family. Pretty solid late 1970s/early 1980s production with expected elements martial arts fans should appreciate (monks training). Leung choreographed the action and it's good. Shaolin-based weapons (spear and staff). He doesn't do much empty hand but as always tosses in some nice kicks.

The Last Samurai: On the pretence of a business trip Japanese multi-millionaire Yasujiro Endo journeys to the African nation of Imtazi. In reality Endo is on a personal mission - a quest to find the truth about a Samurai ancestor who disappeared in Africa two centuries ago and perhaps the true spirit of the Samurai he feels lies deep within himself. Endo's search takes him on Safari deep into the wilds of Africa led by the mercenary Johhny Congo and his girlfriend Caro. As the journey continues so it becomes more dangerous as they find themselves kidnapped by rebel guerilla. It soon becomes apparent that the kidnapping is really only a smokescreen for a covert arms deal where the only bargains that can be struck are with terrorists. The Last Samurai is an action-adventure film in which the heroes face a danger within themselves that is at least as great as the African wilderness ; Endo and Johnny confront their inner selves and both discover that their true nature is that of the Samurai. The Young Bruce Lee: Bruce Lee and his double Bruce Li star in this exciting chronicle of The Little Dragon's life story. Follow his long struggle to become the best of the best. With many exciting fight scenes 'The Young Bruce Lee' is a fitting memorial to the king of martial arts. Master Of Death: One of a collection of films recently discovered in the Hong kong film archives and now available for the first time in the UK. A young man is set on avenging the savage killing of his father and the rape and murder of his mother. His passion for revenge drives him to the best martial arts teachers in the province to learn the skills he will need to succeed. This brutal story builds up to an incredible climax where gruesome Kung Fu beatings are inflicted...and our hero takes his dues. A must see film for all martial arts fans.

The definitive surf movie, this 1966 documentary by Bruce Brown is beautifully shot and thrilling to see in its portrait of youthful freedom on the world's shores. Brown followed two surfers around the globe in their quest for the perfect wave, finding it eventually on a remote beach far from home. The narration by "Big Kahuna Brown" cuts through the reverence a bit, being cheeky in tone. --Tom Keogh, Amazon.com

"I see dead people," whispers little Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment), scared to affirm what is to him now a daily occurrence. This peaked nine-year old, already hypersensitive to begin with, is now being haunted by seemingly malevolent spirits. Child psychologist Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) is trying to find out what's triggering Cole's visions but what appears to be a psychological manifestation turns out to be frighteningly real. It might be enough to scare off a lesser man, but for Malcolm it's personal--several months before, he was accosted and shot by an unhinged patient, who then turned the gun on himself. Since then, Malcolm has been in turmoil--he and his wife (Olivia Williams) are barely speaking, and his life has taken an aimless turn. Having failed his loved ones and himself, he's not about to give up on Cole. The Sixth Sense, M Night Shyamalan's third feature, sets itself up as a thriller, poised on the brink of delivering monstrous scares, but gradually evolves into more of a psychological drama with supernatural undertones. Many critics faulted the film for being mawkish and New Age-y, but no matter how you slice it, this is one mightily effective piece of filmmaking. The bare bones of the story are basic enough, but the moody atmosphere created by Shyamalan and cinematographer Tak Fujimoto made this one of the creepiest pictures of 1999, forsaking excessive gore for a sinisterly simple feeling of chilly otherworldliness. Willis is in his strong, silent type mode here, and gives the film wholly over to Osment, whose crumpled face and big eyes convey a child too wise for his years; his scenes with his mother (Toni Collette) are small, heartbreaking marvels. And even if you figure out the film's surprise ending, it packs an amazingly emotional wallop when it comes, and will have you racing to watch the movie again with a new perspective. You may be able to shake off the sentimentality of The Sixth Sense but its craftsmanship and atmosphere will stay with you for days. --Mark Englehart
