Actor-director Griffin Dunne made his filmmaking debut with this ethically ambiguous and not-very-funny movie about a pair of jilted lovers (Meg Ryan and Matthew Broderick) who conspire to break up a relationship between their ex-sweethearts (Tchéky Karyo and Kelly Preston). Part classic screwball comedy, part nightmare along the lines of Martin Scorsese's After Hours (in which Dunne starred), part tribute to Hitchcock's Rear Window, Addicted to Love is all over the map and seriously hampered by the sheer, unwarranted nastiness aimed at the innocent characters played by Karyo and Preston. The DVD release includes production notes, original theatrical trailer, optional widescreen and standard formats, and optional French and Spanish soundtracks. --Tom Keogh, Amazon.com

Seas boil, heavens fall, and Demi Moore takes a candlelit bath in this effective apocalyptic chiller. The prosthetic-enhanced Moore plays a pregnant non-believer whose baby may hold the key to impending Armageddon. Logic is not exactly the strong point in this well-acted, stylish, theological grab bag, but the random collection of horrific images manages to work more often than not in this acceptable time waster for fans of The Omen and The Exorcist. Also starring Michael Biehn (The Terminator), the always-welcome John Heard in a brief cameo and the exceptional Jürgen Prochnow as a mysterious stranger who could either be from the extreme North or way, way down South. --Andrew Wright

The Hijack...The Ordeal...The Rescue... Cannon Films are known for having produced some of the most enjoyable and eccentric action flicks of the '80s - but The Delta Force which boasts scenes of Chuck Norris flying through the air on a missile-mounted motorbike surely stands as one of their most entertaining efforts. American Travel Ways Flight 282 has been hijacked by a group of terrorists claiming to represent the New World Revolutionary Organisation. The Delta Force under the leadership of Captain Scott McCoy (Chuck Norris) is called in to handle the situation. Still smarting from an ill-fated hostage rescue mission several years prior this elite squad of Special Forces are determined to succeed in their mission this time - and assert the might of the American military once and for all. Drawing on a number of true-life terrorist incidents for inspiration most notably the 1985 hijacking of TWA Flight 847 The Delta Force is a non-stop thrill ride which culminates in one of the most explosive action flick finales of all time. With Chuck Norris on hand to provide the obligatory muscle and gravelly-voiced Lee Marvin in his last ever screen role The Delta Force is one mission you can't afford not to accept.
