The film's title comes from the nickname invented by students and staff for detention at the school attended by the son of one of John Hughes' friends. Thus those who were sent to detention were designated members of ""The Breakfast Club"". Fast Time At Ridgemont High (Dir. Amy Heckerling 1982): Based on the humorous bestselling novel Fast Times at Ridgemont High details the individual struggles of teenagers as they deal with independence success sexuality money maturity school and just making it through the formative year.
