Lavelle played his first DJ set at 14, launched pioneering record label Mo'Wax at 18 and released the genre defining UNKLE album Psyence Fiction at 22. Covering a number of Krush's albums in chronological order his first DVD combines studio footage live performances and interviews where Krush discusses his life working with others and how he has reached the point where he is today. Japanese turntablist and producer DJ Krush is one of the few island-nation's Artists to be embraced by the global hip-hop community. Krush's heady brand of experimental (largely) instrumental hip-hop has been praised by everyone from hardcore underground hip-hop 'zines like The Bomb to the speckless offices of Rolling Stone and Spin. As happens with many gifted musicians DJ Krush's music defies simple classification. To call him a hip-hop artist for example would be to focus on only one aspect of his complex musical personality. Club DJ/producer might be more accurate but the fact is that the man and his music are unique as those who know and love Krush's hypnotic and hauntingly beautiful soundscapes will attest.
