Beat Beat Beat was a German music programme that ran during the sixties. Not to be confused with the other well known German pop programme Beat Club Beat Beat Beat was broadcast out of Frankfurt commencing in 1966. The programme ran to 26 episodes between its launch in 1966 and the final programme in January 1969 all of which are still in the German television archives. The shows were eclectic affairs and included performances by artists as diverse as Eric Burdon and the New Animals The Move Sam and Dave Cat Stevens and Barry Ryan to name just a few. This disc in the series of Beat Beat Beat releases features just one band - Eric Burdon and The New Animals. Eric Burdon had achieved massive worldwide success with the original Animals in 1964. By 1967 the original band had split and Eric influenced by the new sounds coming out of America's West Coast formed the New Animals which were more psychedelically inclined. The band performs five tracks including a cover of the song Morning Dew made famous by Tim Rose. Other songs include Trumpets Blow See See Rider and a harking back to the style of the older Animals with the John D Loudermilk song Tobacco Road and Road Runner. Rarely seen before this footage is not only historical but an amazing document of the times. Tracklist: 1. Episode 6 - Morning Dew 2. Episode 6 - I Hear Trumpets Blow 3. Eric Burdon & The New Animals - Tobacco Road 4. Eric Burdon & The New Animals - Road Runner 5. Eric Burdon & The New Animals - See See Rider

Hit American sitcom Will and Grace is as perky as Friends and as wittily urbane as Frasier. The premise concerns Will (Eric McCormack), a mildly uptight lawyer who agrees to have as a flatmate his best friend, interior designer Grace (Debra Messing). Their relationship has all the hallmarks of one between lovers--emotional dependency, little things that get on each other's nerves, strong mutual interests and volcanic arguments. The only snag is that while Grace is straight, Will is gay. Though not shy of poking sharp fun at that situation, Will and Grace is among sitcom's most potent and sophisticated antidotes to homophobia. Though initially a little too pleased with its own camp pertness, the show grows and grows on you with successive episodes, finally becoming indispensable. It also benefits from secondary characters Jack (Sean P Hayes) and Karen (Megan Mullally), also gay and straight respectively, both outrageously and hilariously irresponsible characters: he's a free spirit and freeloader, she's "working" as Grace's assistant even though she doesn't need the money, having married some. Despite its diamond and rapid-fire punch lines, Will and Grace conveys enough sense of the lovelorn predicament of the main characters to prevent it becoming too cute. --David Stubbs
