Renowned as the Godfather of Gore for legendary cult supernatural horror films like The Beyond , Lucio Fulci delivers the suspense of noir with the punch of a horror film in his unapologetically brutal crime masterpiece, CONTRABAND - creating a raw, uncompromisingly visceral vision of organised crime with horror-style set-pieces - including one of the most notorious scenes in Italian crime cinema, the melting face torture sequence. Fulci lays bare the raw - and completely unromanticised - brutality of the Camorra in one of his most hard-hitting and unrelenting films, merging crime thriller with Horror's shocking aesthetics. It got so real that the local underworld got involved in the actual making of the film, explains star Fabio Testi in an exclusive interview for this release. CONTRABAND stars the ever-charismatic tough-guy Fabio Testi (Revolver') who delivers a powerful, career-defining performance as Luca - a tough-as-nails cigarette smuggler whose world explodes when his brother is murdered and his wife abducted. This ignites a ferocious mob war, with a ruthless new order attempting to replace the old criminal order with deadly narcotics. What follows isn't just revenge - it's a one-man war against a ruthless drug lord portrayed with unhinged intensity by Marcel Bozzuffi. His performance is so disturbingly sadistic, it makes his assassin role in The French Connection look tame. Here, Bozzuffi's cool menace curdles into something purely psychopathic. Fulci spares no one in the ensuing bloodbath, turning the sun-drenched Bay of Naples into a blood-soaked battleground. Brace yourself for a visceral assault on the senses as Fulci unleashes his signature gut-churning gore and eye-popping graphic cruelty. Eureka Entertainment to release REVOLVER; a suspenseful crime thriller starring Oliver Reed, co-written and directed by the legendary Sergio Sollima, on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK from a brand-new 4K restoration. Available as part of the Eureka Classics range from 16 May 2022, the first print-run of 2000 copies will feature a Limited-Edition O-card Slipcase & Collector's Booklet. After directing his triptych of political (and acclaimed) spaghetti westerns (The Big Gundown; Face to Face; and Run, Man, Run), Sergio Sollima directed two crime thrillers in the poliziotteschi genre the name given to the violent and action-packed Italian crime thrillers that had become exceedingly popular amongst Italian audiences. Sollima was a perfect fit for this style of filmmaking, and the two films he directed in the genre are both essential viewing. Presented here is the second, Revolver, starring Oliver Reed and Fabio Testi. Kidnappers have snatched the wife of Milan's top prison warden (Reed) and demand the release of an inmate (Testi) as ransom. But when the warden allows his prisoner to escape, the two become trapped in a deadly conspiracy that reaches from the halls of government to the bullet-riddled city streets. Can an obsessed lawman and an escaped convict survive the forces of corruption as well as each other, or does the ultimate law of society belong to the revolver? Makes Death Wish look like wishful thinking! was the immortal tagline that accompanied the film upon its US release (also retitled Blood in the Streets), but Revolveras is to be expected from Sollimais a much more complex film. Sollima was a highly political director and his films were often allegorical, implicitly opposed to the corruption endemic in Italian society at the time. With music by the late maestro, Ennio Morricone (including one of his most beloved compositions, Un Amico), Eureka Classics is proud to present Revolver from a new 4K restoration for the first time on Blu-ray in the UK. Product Features Limited Edition O-Card slipcase (2000 copies only) 1080p presentation on Blu-ray from a 4K restoration English and Italian audio options Optional English Subtitles, newly translated for this release Brand new audio commentary by author critic Kim Newman Brand new interview with film scholar Stephen Thrower, author of Nightmare USA Archival interview with actor Fabio Test Original Trailers and Radio Adverts PLUS: A Limited-Edition Collector's Booklet (2000 copies only) featuring two new essays by author Howard Hughes; one covering the background to the making of Revolver, and an extensive piece on Ennio Morricone's Eurocrime soundtracks
Based on an idea by Roberto Saviano, from his international best-selling book, Gomorrah' and the film of the same name, directed by Matteo Garrone, comes an event-series from Italy focused on the fierce Neapolitan crime organisation, the Camorra. Set in the suburbs of Naples, focusing on organized crime and the relationships between gangsters, drug dealers, and ordinary people, Gomorrah depicts street-level crime and its hierarchical organization from the pavement, all the way up to regional government offices. The Savastano clan, led by the Godfather, Pietro (Fortunato Cerlino) and his loyal wife, Lady Imma (Maria Pia Calzone) reign over Naples with the assistance of his obedient and self-confident right-hand man, Ciro The Immortal' (Marco D'Amore), who must teach their only son Gennaro - the heir to the Savastano gilded throne, the brutal and bloody ways of their clan. As Gennaro transforms into, and beyond, what Ciro and Pietro could have ever wished for him to become, power struggles ensue, and the balance of power shifts back and forth with devastating consequences for all involved. As the era of the Savastano clan looks to be crumbling, Ciro and Gennaro's fates will intertwine as they spread their criminal links beyond their homeland, encountering new illicit ways to trade in drugs and thrive on the spoils, despite both of them being all but destroyed in the process.
A tantalizing mix of documentary fiction and everything in between Miguel Gomes' multi-award-winning love song to rural Portugal is an intoxicating blend of visuals sound and music. Gorgeously photographed it set one's eyes ablaze and toes tapping but Gomes goes further to work the brain as a narrative slowly sneakily emerges out of the (seeming) documentary melody-making. Summoning up memories of French film-makers such as Eric Rohmer and documentarist Nicolas Philibert and in its deliberate drift from fiction into fact echoes of Pedro Costa and Manoel de Oliviera the film follows a self-created evolutionary path to become something wholly individual and unique.
The era of the Savastano clan, who once undisputedly reigned over north Naples, seems to be coming to an end. What lies ahead now is the largest ever power vacuum in the history of the Camorra a coalition of crime families in and around the urban backstreets of Naples. The king, Don Pietro Savastano (Fortunato Cerlino), has abdicated, only to be replaced by his son Genny Savastano (Salvatore Esposito) at least momentarily. Although still having loyal soldiers, the Savastano s see themselves opposed by their once loyal right-hand man Ciro the Immortal Di Marzio (Marco D Amore), who is not the only one working on ending their bloody reign. The sinister drug baron, Conte, is back in town building alliances and there are two new contenders for the throne of north Naples. The only certainty about the future nothing is certain. Gomorrah is based on the international bestselling book by Roberto Saviano who exposed the Camorra mafia syndicate based in and around Naples, and has been living under police protection for eight years.
With the Godfather Don Pietro murdered, there is a void to be filled in the underworld of Naples. His son Genny takes control, using the opportunity to settle old scores. The survivors of the remaining factions, exhausted by the warring and massive police pressure, have suffered drastic financial losses and make peace. And with Avitabile in prison for another year, Genny now has to reign over North Naples and Rome. Ciro, on the other hand, has had his revenge but his dreams and his family have been destroyed. He decides to leave everything behind, travels to Bulgaria and goes to work for the big-time drug dealer Valentin. But when Ciro has to return to Naples, he forms a new powerful partnership with the young and ambitious Enzo; a light that was once extinguished in Ciro's eyes reappears. Enzo, with Ciro's help, learns how to be a real boss and to take what he is entitled to. It is a time of drastic change for all of them. Once they started out as street-level drug dealers. Now they are casting their net way beyond the city of Naples and the borders of Italy.

Shameless proudly presents the 1st ever Cinema-of-Death anthology of Ruggero Deodato, Mr Cannibal himself, the director of possibly the nastiest Video Nasties which have since become cult must-see and now subject of top academic research, public debates and high-brow critical acclaim. Cannibal HolocaustCannibal Holocaust on its 1st release, director Deodato was charged with killing his own cast - and jailed! In UK, it incarnated THE Video Nasty. Banned and then cut by several minutes, it took a full 30 years for the censors to relax their grip! We present two versions of this, the most controversial film ever made: A unique Director's re-edit (shown 1st in London's West-End) which tones down the animal cruelty (to fit better with 21st Century sensibilities) without shortening the film. The other is the full strength 80s dish! Very strong stuff - especially because of its unsurpassed, documentary-like, extremely realistic depiction of gory violence. With this landmark film Deodato single-handedly invented the 'found-footage' genre (imitated by Blair Witch et al). Often imitated, this is The Original and unequaled best. House On The Edge Of The ParkThe House On The Edge Of The Park also a Video Nasty, this claustrophobic staging of a vicious home-invasion scenario explodes into slasher torture hell, with star David Hess giving one of the strongest performances of his career and Deodato a master-class in directing, proving again that under the blood and guts there is a brilliant film maker formed by Neo-realism. Special Features: Deodato and star Giovanni Lombardo Radice in a public debate with senior BBFC examiner. In-depth interview with the late David Hess. The Phantom of DeathIn The Phantom of Death Deodato's unwavering directing meets a barnstorming performance from Michael York (Cabaret, Austin Powers) as the pianist virtuoso who suddenly starts aging at alarming speed - progeria, a devastating real-life affliction. With death closing in fast, the pianist loses his mind in a murderous frenzy of brutal hackings... Edwige Fenech and Donald Pleasence co-star.

This high-energy Dirty Harry in Japan stars Jean Reno (The Professional) as a maverick Paris cop with sledgehammer fists and a short temper. Promoted to sudden fatherhood when he "inherits" a spunky Japanese daughter (Ryoko Hirosue) he never knew, he becomes her droopy guardian angel, protecting her from an army of yakuza gangsters. Written and produced by Luc Besson, the former fashionista director of Euro-sleek shoot-'em-ups, this colorful B-movie blast is as gritty as an oil slick on a water slide but packed with explosive action. Director Gerard Krawczyk punctuates his gunfights with the Hong Kong school of recoil (bullets blast victims across the screen) and an undercurrent of humor. As long as you don't lean too hard on such niggling details as logic, legality, and the laws of physics, this silly, splashy, family bonding bulletfest is a spirited good time.
