Recorded live at The Victorian Arts Centre in Australia. Set in a peasant village in the French countryside La Fille Mal Gardee is a delightful tale of the difficult path of young love. Widow Simone is determined to betroth her wilful daughter Lise to the eccentric son of the rich farmer but Lise ans her lover Carlos conspire to thwart the widow's plans. Music by Ferdinand Herold arranged by John Lanchbery. Choreography by Frederick Ashton staged by Faith Worth. Artistic director: Maina Gielgud.
