Through much of the film the ever-popular underground venue CBGBs plays host to the artists' unconventional views. Although many different clips of songs are featured the Patti Smith Group rocks through Horses Ask the Angels Rock 'n Roll Nigger and the title track Dancing Barefoot plus adds their own flavour to several influential cover songs. Also featured are the inspirational performances of Patti's poetry. The era of Rock 'n Roll eccentricity is beautifully captured in this documentary by Ivan himself. It is a true gem for anyone who is interested in the development of music and ideology and the progression of Rock 'n Roll.
