Nawab Aslam and their friend Shaida all three of them followed the black burqa to the girl's home. But they did not know that the girls while they were at the mazar had exchanged their veils. The 'home' of the 'girl' turned out to be the residence of Aslam's uncle. Aslam unhesitantly promised to arrange Nawab's marriage with his (Aslam's) cousin Naseema.One day per chances Nawab arrived at Aslam's house when his eye's lighted on Aslam's wife Jamila he had a revelation. Aslam too learned for the first time that the beloved Nawab had sought fruitlessly was Jamila! Aslam was very much beholden Nawab. He therefore decided to ruin his own home in order to bring out Nawab's happiness. He started visiting the establishments of tawaaifs' (singing girl): so that he should gain notoriety Jamila's folks should ask for a divorce and then Jamila should be free to marry Nawab.Nawab and Naseema were scheduled to wed soon. There was a conflict in Aslam's mind. He could not bear to see his closest friend unhappy. What should he do?The conflict is resolved in the beautiful denouement of Guru Dutt's Chaudhvin Ka Chand.

The film a thrilling murder mystery follows CID Inspector Shekhar in his search to find the murderer of a newspaper editor killed by Sher Singh (Mehmood) whom Shekhar bumps into at the scene of the crime chases in Rekha's car but who escapes. Master (Johny Walker)a common thief who witnesses the crime and is arrested as the murder suspect is later released by Shekhar. Sher Singh is ultimately arrested but Shekhar knowing that he is the front man for a big gangster continues the investigation. He is bribed by Kamini (Waheeda Rehman) to stop the investigation but he refuses. Meanwhile at the prison Sher Singh is killed by fellow prisoners planted there to silence him and Shekhar is implicated and tried for his murder.

In spite of this the marraige takes place but Preetam frustrated at not being able to see Anita after the marraige carries her off to his brother's place. Sita Devi rescues Anita and divorce proceedings begin. However Anita now rediscovers her earlier love for Preetam. Will Preetam and Anita be united? What about Anita's fortune will it be sacrificed at the altar of love? Mr. & Mrs. 55 one of Guru Dutt's early successes is a sophisticated romantic comedy full of sparkling dialogue and fine comic performances. Apart from one of O.P. Nayyar's most successful musical scores including some of Geeta Dutt's greatest hits ""Jaane kahan mera jigar"" ""Thandi hawa kaali ghata"" the film has another highlight - Preetam's cartoons were actually drawn by India's top-most cartoonist R.K. Various forms of lies & manipulations gets him the job. Now posing as Mrs. Lakshmi Godbole Jai is very happy to be with his daughter. The care and concern he shows towards the child earns him the admiration of Durga Prasad and envy of other servants especially Bhanwari Lall Pandit Durga Prasad's secretary. Durga Prasad has a sudden heart attack and Lakshmi manages to get him to the hospital in time. Durga Prasad and Janki feel highly obliged to Lakshmi chachi. Durga Prasad's gratitude slowly turns to love and he proposes marriage to Lakshmi. In a terrible fix Lakshmi invents a runaway husband. To further complicate matters Jai's landlord Hari Bhai also falls in love with Chachi. Janaki influenced by Chachi realises that all her differences with Jai were flimsy & childish and she still loves him. As she reaches out to her husband she realises that Jai was Chachi all along. They both conspire to keep it a secret and spare Durga Prasad the embarrasment of defeat.

  Tom Hanks was a relatively unknown TV actor with a sitcom as his biggest credit when relatively unknown director Ron Howard (best known for his own sitcom acting) cast him in this surprise hit. It made stars of Hanks, Daryl Hannah and John Candy and an A-list director out of Howard. Hannah is a mermaid who comes to Manhattan in search of Hanks, the guy she has twice saved from drowning. Hanks runs a business with his loveable, blowhard brother (Candy), whose goal in life is to have a letter published in Penthouse. When this perfect woman shows up, Hanks can't believe his luck and plunges into a dizzyingly romantic relationship, unaware of her sea-water secret. But the mermaid needs to soak and unfurl her tail from time to time, which leads to complications, including her capture by the government for scientific study (what else?). Hanks is winningly charming and Hannah is a perfect match in this enjoyably high-spirited comedy, though the biggest laughs belong to Candy. --Marshall Fine

Pyaasa is a Guru Dutt classic immortal not only for intensely moving performances by Waheeda Rehman and Guru Dutt and some of S.D. Burman's most memorable compositions but also Sahir Ludhianvi's poetry - Yeh Mehlon Yeh Thakton Jaane Woh Kaise Log The Jinke and Jinhe Naaz Hai Hind Par Woh Kahan Hai.
