Agnes Letestu, a feminine and warm Odette, Jose Martinez, a convincing, pale vulnerable Prince Siegfried, and Karl Paguette, doubling as a dutiful Wolfgang and an equally devious Rothbart, are the stars of this deeply passionate, 'dream' version of Swan Lake, Rudolf Nureyev's interpretation of Tchaikovsky's lyrical ballet, far from being a cliched stereotype of this celebrated masterpiece, is an expose of astonishingly powerful and recognisable human emotions. Under the inspired and clear-cut musical direction of Vello Pahn, this production of one of the jewels of the Paris Opera Ballet's repertoire brilliantly displays the meticulous precision, technical prowess and pure, unmanbnered style of the company's unrivalled female corps de ballet, eliciting an ethereal, intense beauty, captured for DVD in High Definition video and superb surround sound.

A mere three weeks after his much-acclaimed return to operatic and concert performance at the Salzburg Festival in August 1989, Jose Carreras appeared in another important musical event - a joint concert with his Spanish compatriot, singer Montserrat Caballe, held in Moscow's famous Bolshoi Theatre. The concert opens with a medley of baroque and belcanto gems from the 17th and 18th centuries, including a rendition by Jose Carreras of Arie Antiche by Alessandro Scarlatti.Italian and Spanish songs form a central element in the programme for this concert, including three Canzoni by Frances Paolo Tosti and one by Salvatore Cardillo, favourites from Carreras' concert repertoire. These popular Italian songs are matched by several Spanish Canciones Popolares, sung by Montserrat Caballe.Last but not least, opera is of course represented - even though it is a genre that is not central to this particular programme - by 'Brindisi', Violetta and Alfred's champagne-fuelled drinking song from Act I of Verdi's La Traviata, and Lauretta's enchanting aria from Puccini's one-act opera Gianni Schicchi.
The names Audrey Hepburn and Holly Golightly have become synonymous since this dazzling romantic comedy was translated to the screen from Truman Capote's best-selling novella. Holly is a deliciously eccentric New York City playgirl determined to marry a Brazilian millionaire. George Peppard plays her nextdoor neighbour a writer who is 'sponsored' by wealthy Patricia Neal. Guessing who's the right man for Holly is easy. Seeing just how that romance blossoms is one of the enduring delights of this classic set to Henry Mancini's Oscar-winning score and the Oscar-winning Mancini/Johnny Mercer song 'Moon River'.
Louis Malle's film Les Amants (The Lovers) tells the story of a bored neglected bourgeois house wife who falls for an irreverent young student.
A performance by the Paris National Opera Company choreographed by John Neumeier. Recorded at the Opera National De Paris in March 2005.

Revived and hungry the sightless zombies rely on their ears to hunt down their victims and unlike most undead who stumble about in slow-moving hordes the Templars ride horses and even trains in pursuit of the sweet sweet flesh of the living!
