  This box set features the following films: Tenacious D: The Pick Of Destiny (Dir. Among the police arriving at the crime scene is hostage negotiator Detective Rob Nunally (Billy Burke) the only officer permitted entry to the house. Surprisingly Crawford readily admits to shooting his wife but Nunally is too stunned to pay close attention when he recognizes his lover whose true identity he never knew lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Although Jennifer was shot at point blank range Nunally realizes she isn't dead. Crawford is immediately arrested and arraigned after confessing - a seemingly slam-dunk case for hot shot assistant district attorney Willy Beachum (Ryan Gosling) who has one foot out the door of the District Attorney's (David Strathairn) office on his way to a lucrative job in high-stakes corporate law. But nothing is as simple as it seems including this case. Will the lure of power and a love affair with a sexy ambitious attorney (Rosamund Pike) at his new firm overpower Willy's fierce drive to win or worse quash his code of ethics? In a tense duel of intellect and strategy Crawford and Willy both learn that a fracture can be found in every ostensibly perfect facade. The Alibi (Dir. Now Ray runs an alibi service for men and woman who want to spend a little quality love time away from their well... loved ones. A true cynic Ray's business is booming until Wendell Hatch (James Marsden) the pampered son of Ray's biggest client sneaks away to Santa Barbara the weekend before his wedding and accidentally strangles his bit on the side. Suddenly Ray is an accessory to murder and is being pursued by everyone from the savvy small - town cop and a heartbroken chauffeur to a holier-than-thou assassin known as 'The Mormon'. Unable to extricate himself from this tangled we Ray must at last place his trust in someone. Enter the fast-talking and extremely sexy Lola ( Rebecca Romijn). With Lola's help Ray decides to mastermind one final con that will clear his name and finally lay his ghosts to rest. But still things refuse to go to plan. And whether he likes it or not Ray is about to learn a thing or two about love and affairs of the heart - particularly his own.

What if a clinic found that these babblings and doodles were actually very intelligent responses or scribbling of an ancient form of communication? Well, it seems that all it would create is this tepid comedy. Kathleen Turner runs the clinic that believes babies have "universal knowledge" before they learn to speak (and dumb down). What she plans to do with this knowledge is never really understood, but know this: the plans are evil. The secret lives of babies have been pretty adorably filmed previously with Look Who's Talking, but here the babies talk and move via visual effects like the animals in Babe. They also karate chop adults and talk about such adorable things as "diaper gravy". By the time the story (a variation of The Parent Trap) heats up (relatively speaking), there is not much left to engage us except some cute babies that just look odd as effects take over their mouths and movements. --Doug Thomas

  With tongue firmly in cheek throughout, The Convent piles on the gross-out gore. A group of college kids take a midnight trip to a deserted convent school which 40 years earlier was the scene of a massacre by a wayward convent schoolgirl called Christine. What they don't know is that the long dead and mightily peeved souls of the murdered nuns are still stalking the premises. The demonic nuns liquidate a succession of dumb and dumber teens in order to steal their souls. Among the potential victims are a virgin Goth, a jive-talkin' jock and a pair of effeminate, flouncing Satanists. Coolio cameos as a likeably corrupt cop whose bark is worse than his bite. The humour fluctuates between goofy and just plain stupid. But director Mike Mendez thankfully bypasses the Scream blueprint for slasher flicks. The Convent provides strictly irony-free screams, harking back instead to classics like Halloween and Nightmare On Elm Street. Horror veteran Adrienne Barbeau shows up as the adult Christine, strapped with an arsenal that would make even Charlton Heston blush and ready to wreak revenge on her convent school education all over again. On The DVD: The DVD features static menus and extras are limited to a theatrical trailer and cast and crew filmographies. The main feature is presented as a clear transfer in 4:3 full frame format with Dolby Digital 2.0 sound. --Chris Campion
