Luciano Pavarotti made his operatic debut in 1961 and by the next decade was acknowledged as one of the finest tenors in the world. Whilst the operatic world had long appreciated his talents mainstream success took a little longer but Pavarotti alongside Jos Carreras and Placido Domingo is credited with bringing classical music to the masses in particular with their Three Tenors recordings.
