Super Size Me (Dir. Morgan Spurlock 2004): Here's a documentary that needs absolutely no introduction. Why is America so fat? This is the question that Morgan Spurlock wanted to answer. He set out to interview experts in 20 US cities including Houston the fattest city in America whilst at the same time conducting his own personal experiment: eat nothing but McDonalds for 30 days straight. There were four rules: 1. No options: only eat what was available over the counter (including water!) 2. No 'supersizing' unless offered 3. No excuses: eat every item on the menu at least once 4. No quitting: eat three square meals a day from McDonalds The results shocked even the doctors who were monitoring his experiment... The winner of a host of international awards this unmissable documentary has really got the world talking and the junk food peddlers running scared! Wal-Mart (Dir. Robert Greenwald 2005): A look at the impact of the retail giant on local communities. This documentary takes the viewer on a deeply personal journey into the everyday lives of families struggling to fight Goliath. From a family business owner in the Midwest to a preacher in California from workers in Florida to a poet in Mexico dozens of film crews on three continents bring the intensely personal stories of an assault on families and American values. The Yes Men (Dir. Dan Ollman Sarah Price & Chris Smith 2003):A revelatory documentary directed by the team behind the Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winner 'American Movie'. The Yes Men are a small group of prankster-activists indulging in such pranks as impersonating the World Trade Organisation on TV and at business conferences around the world. They even set up a website that mimics the WTO's and it's mistaken for the real thing! Soon they find themselves being invited to important functions as representatives of the WTO. ""Dinosaurs"" is a term that seems to fit Genesis like no other band. Jointly with ""Yes"" Genesis have been the most influential band for generations of progressive rock bands. 1974 saw the release of The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway an epic prog rock monument tuned to perfection. Not all was peaches and cream however when singer Peter Gabriel left the band after the supporting tour. After a long futile search for a new vocalist the remaining band members decided to let drummer Phil Collins take over the microphone - another stroke of genius. Whether it was mainly for Collins or not the band steadily drifted away from theatrical prog rock towards mainstream pop music. Perfect evidence is this 1980 concert at the Lyceum Ballroom in London which coincided with the work on their monster-selling studio album Abacab. Tracklist: 1. Deep In The Motherlodge 2.
