Grab your favourite munchies: Red and Meth, that dope-addled dynamic duo, are going to Harvard. And while it's not exactly demanding viewing, How High is destined to become a guilty pleasure of the cannabis crowd. The plot's a familiar one--take the basic selling points of any Cheech & Chong movie (a pair of shambolic protagonists who smoke lots of weed and drive funky 70s-style cars), graft them onto a generic "raising hell on campus" teen movie scenario and shake vigorously. The result is a prosaic effort that does contain some all-too-brief moments of genuine humour. Red and Meth, aka Redman and Method Man, may look like the world's oldest freshmen, but both offer genial performances, especially Method Man, who imbues the character of Silas with a dog-eared gentleness that raises him above the film's leaden script and plastic directing. --Rebecca Levine

Muhammad AliThis programme is the definitive biography of Muhammad Ali, the true story of his ups and downs, both in and out of the ring. With the backdrop of racial segregation find out how a young, loud, overconfident boy from Southern USA started on his long journey to success. Defeating Sonny Liston, Ali (born Clay) would carry on the legacy left by the likes of Johnson and Louis. But Ali's life is as peppered with lows as it is with highs. His refusal to be drafted for service in Vietnam and being stripped of his title, three failed marriages, and his continuous struggle against the authorities would not make Ali falter. This programme includes fantastic footage of his fights such as 'The Rumble in the Jungle' and 'The Thriller in Manila', and also contains rare behind the scenes archive footage, giving us a greater insight into the man. Mike TysonMike Tyson rose from a boyhood of dire poverty and crime to become the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history and one of the richest and most famous athletes on the planet. But no sooner had he reached the top of the professional ranks everything started to fall apart. Two marriages came and went, his championship slipped away, and his career descended into a carnival of crooked promoters, femmes fatales, assaults, prison and, after winning more than $300 million in his career, bankruptcy. Even at the age of 40, Mike Tyson continued to fight to pay his bills. His fall is famous, but the reasons are as complex and misunderstood as Mike himself. This fascinating documentary looks at the man whose spectacular rise and fall has fascinated the world like that of no other athlete of his time. Roy JonesOne of the best fighters in boxing history, Roy Jones Jr. has held titles in four different weight classes, a previously unheard of feat. The finest achievements of his career are presented in 'Roy Jones Jr.'s Greatest Knockouts'. This compilation features footage highlighting the climaxes of a number of Jones's fights. Jones has stood out as the dominant boxer of his generation, and the 'Greatest Knockouts' shows why in great detail, illustrating how he has managed to overmatch much of his competition.

Elvis Presley's third and best film is this musical romp released in 1957, just as the Big "E" was reaching the peak of his hip-swivelling pre-army success. Filmed in ultra-cool black and white, the movie stars Elvis as a good ol' boy who saves a woman from an assault but kills her attacker, so he's convicted of manslaughter and sent to jail. While doing time he takes up the guitar and becomes a singing sensation, ready for the big time when he's finally released. He becomes a big star but his inflated ego gets him into trouble with his former cellmate and his new girlfriend. Short on plot but heavy on rock & roll, this EP classic features such hit songs as "Treat Me Nice", "Baby, I Don't Care", "Don't Leave Me Now" and, of course, the classic title song, performed in an elaborate jailhouse number that Elvis choreographed himself. This is Elvis in all his big-screen glory, and the movie's upbeat ending made it a huge success during its original release. --Jeff Shannon

When the totalitarian planet of Mongo decides on a whim to obliterate Earth, it's up to the quarterback Flash Gordon and his oddball companions to make the universe safe for democracy. Based on the classic (and infinitely more reputable) comic strip and its 1930s screen serialisation, this candy-coloured trash classic deserves immortality for Queen's unforgettably pulsating soundtrack alone. The legendary Max von Sydow appears to be having a blast as the evil Ming the Merciless, while Ornella Muti, as his daughter, is the living embodiment of what attracts adolescent boys to comics in the first place. (She makes Barbarella look mundane.) One of the most shamelessly entertaining movies ever made, this is a knowingly absurd sensory freak-out that'll have the viewer blissfully checking the sky afterward for signs of Hawkmen. --Andrew Wright
