Kishanlal was a chauffeur to Robert though sometimes Robert would drive. So it was that one day Robert kills someone in an accident. Swearing that he would take care of Kishanlal's family if Kishanlal would take the blame the chauffeur goes to jail. As time goes by Robert does not honour his pledge and the family split up losing touch with eachother. Years pass before they all reunite and the sons plot to avenge their father.....

A rollicking slapstick musical comedy directed by Jyoti Swaroop in which the innocent Bhola (Sunil Dutt) gives up his commitment to celibacy when he falls for a sexy neighbour Bindu (Saira Banu). His rivals in love are his own uncle (Om Prakash) and Bindu's traditionalist Carnatic music teacher (Mehmood). He however wins his girl with the assistance of the crooked drama-troupe guru (Kishore Kumar) when he serenades her using the guru for a musical playback. R D Burman's great soundtrack climaxes in the high point of the film in a zany take-off on the Jugalbandi (musical contest) between the guru and the Carnatic musician `Ek Chatur Naar Karke Singaar' sung by Manna De and Kishore Kumar. The original Bengali story had previously been filmed by Sudhir Mukherjee Pasher Bari in 1952 in Telugu by C Pullaiah Pakkinti Ammayi in 1953 and in Tamil - Raghavaiah's Adutha Veetu Penn in 1960.
Raja Aur Runk is the story of a prince and a pauper. Two children born on the same day at the same time - one to the king Raja Sahib and one to the poor man Hariya (Ajit). The king is thrilled at the birth of Yuvraj the heir to the throne while Hariya is cynical about the birth of his son Raja. Both the children grow up looking identical but there is a constant contrast in their lives and upbringing. One day Raja runs away from home and somehow ends up in the palace where he meets Yuvraj. Both the boys discover how different their lives are. Being tempted to see the world outside Yuvraj changes identities with Raja and leaves the palace. Both boys now struggle in vain to adjust to their new identity. Raja's mother (Nirupa Roy) and sister Sujjo (Nazima) both are miserable with his changed behaviour and the King is also very distressed about Yuvraj. Sudhir (Sanjeev Kumar) comes in as a pivotal player in this saga of gripping twists and turns. This Prasad Productions' costume drama has effective performances by Sanjeev Kumar Nazima and child artiste Mahesh Kothare. The hit team of Anand Bakshi and Laxmikant Pyarelal created melodious songs like 'Tu Kitni Achchi Hai...O Maa' 'O Phirkiwali' 'Mera Naam Hai Chameli' and 'Sang Basanti Ang Basanti'.
