| RRP This Wimbledon 2013 Collector's Edition brings together the Official Film and the historic Gentlemen's Final as the perfect way to remember the Championship. The Official FilmThe Wimbledon 2013 Official Film is the definitive story of the 127th Championships. In the Gentlemen's Singles Andy Murray once again carried the hopes of the home nation entering the grounds of SW19 as the world No.2 and an Olympic and Grand Slam champion. World No.1 Serena Williams meanwhile was heavily favoured to defend her Ladies Singles title. An extraordinary first week witnessed the exits of Rafael Nadal Maria Sharapova and Roger Federer while Britain's Laura Robson advanced to the fourth round in thrilling fashion. By the final weekend the stage was set for a Ladies Singles final between Germany's Sabine Lisicki contesting her first Grand Slam singles final and 2007 Wimbledon finalist Marion Bartoli. The charismatic Frenchwoman won in straight sets. The following day history was made on Centre Court as Murray became the first British Gentlemen's Singles champion since Fred Perry in 1936 defeating Novak Djokovic in an intense three sets. Narrated by Tim Rice written by Barry Flatman and featuring exclusive contributions from Andy Murray Marion Bartoli Novak Djokovic Sabine Lisicki Roger Federer Serena Williams Rafael Nadal Boris Becker and Billie Jean King this documentary is a dramatic and highly entertaining record of the proceedings at Wimbledon 2013. The Men's FinalWinning Wimbledon I can't get my head around that. I still can't believe it's happened said Andy Murray after he convincingly beat Novak Djokovic to become Wimbledon 2013 Men's Champion. As he walked out onto Centre Court on 7th July 2013 the weight of expectation heavy on his shoulders Andy Murray knew what he had to do to become the first British champion since Fred Perry in 1936. A packed Centre Court crowd filled with sporting heroes politicians A list celebrities and lucky members of the public joined a nation who watched nervously on screens around the country. The temperature on Centre Court read 40°C on Britain's hottest day of the year and the heat would make the final a gruelling contest for the world's top two players. The match scorecard will show a straight sets win; 6-4 7-5 6-4 but it was never that easy. This was a hard brutal contest between two tennis gladiators. Murray took the first set decisively but the second seemed to be going to Djokovic until Murray came back from 1-4 to level and then serve for the set. In the third set Murray was up two sets with a break - victory was in sight but then his opponent the world number 1 broke and then broke again. But Murray broke back to level the set and broke again so all that remained was for him to hold serve to become champion. It was apt that Murray made us wait in the end. It would have been too easy for him to win with one of his three match points and wipe away the memories of the past eight years. In a final 12 minute game which Murray described as 'tortuous' the nation held its breath as Djokovic fought back to 40-40 to give himself the slimmest of chances. After a thirteen point march from 40-0 by his opponent Murray's imperious defence a key to his success got him into position to set up a forehand winner at deuce and Djokovic finally surrendered putting a backhand shot into the net. The nation had dared to dream and Murray made that dream a reality taking his rightful place among the nation's sporting greats. Last year Murray said I'm getting closer! - This year Great Britain has a new hero and the nation can finally celebrate... This DVD set is the complete coverage of the Wimbledon Championship Men's Singles Final and Andy Murray's historic victory over Novak Djokovic. Your chance to own a piece of history.

The Rutles - All You Need Is Cash | DVD | (25/04/2005)
from £13.66
| Saving you £-7.67 (N/A%)
| RRP First screened on BBC2 in 1978, at a time when the standing of The Beatles was at its lowest, The Rutles--All You Need is Cash is the original and (pace This is Spinal Tap) best "rockumentary" spoof. Codirector Eric Idle was then enjoying success with Rutland Weekend Television, while his script displays the same feeling for the inane non-sequitur evident in his Monty Python work. The band's progress from "penniless, untalented nobodies" to "rich, untalented somebodies" is vividly brought to life--with dialogue adapted from actual Beatles interviews and newsreels, and a roster of songs sounding uncannily close to Beatles originals thanks to "Nasty" Neil Innes' genius for pastiche. Interviews with a suitably primed Mick Jagger and Paul Simon give added realism, as do cameos from George Harrison (one-time Beach Boy Rikki Fataar plays his Rutles double Stig) and Stones guitarist Ron Wood. Dan Ackroyd and John Belushi make characterful, pre-Blues Brothers appearances. On the DVD: The Rutles--All You Need is Cash has come up well in this DVD transfer. The fullscreen 4:3 ratio picture and mono sound wear their age well, enhanced by the extra scenes included. There's further interview material with Jagger and Simon, and a specially recorded, though wholly unfunny, DVD introduction from Idle, who also contributes a running commentary. All in all, this is an ideal way to get to know, or renew acquaintance with, a film that brings the swinging 60s back down to earth. --Richard Whitehouse

| RRP Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis wrote the script, but Bill Murray gets all the best lines and moments in this 1984 comedy directed by Ivan Reitman (Meatballs). The three comics, plus Ernie Hudson, play the New York City-based team that provides supernatural pest control, and Sigourney Weaver is the love interest possessed by an ancient demon. Reitman and company are full of original ideas about hobgoblins--who knew they could "slime" people with green plasma goo?--but hovering above the plot is Murray's patented ironic view of all the action. Still a lot of fun, and an obvious model for sci-fi comedies such as Men in Black. --Tom Keogh, Amazon.com

Alfie | DVD | (26/08/2002)
from £5.03
| Saving you £10.96 (217.89%)
| RRP What's it all about, Alfie?" asked the hit Burt Bacharach/Hal David title song, to which the less philosophical answer might be: an amoral young man comically seducing a succession of beautiful women in swinging-sixties London. Michael Caine was the titular anti-hero, here consolidating his new star status from Zulu (1964) and The Ipcress File (1965), his conquests including Shelley Winters, Jane Asher and Shirley Ann Field. Alfie was a huge success, bringing a new frankness about changing sexual attitudes to the screen, in which respect it was almost the male companion to Julie Christie's then shocking, Oscar-winning performance in Darling (1965). It was also a sort-of contemporary Tom Jones, which had swept the Oscars for 1963, however, Alfie was not only better made, but in Michael Caine's guilelessly amoral asides to camera, offered a groundbreaking illustration of a newly self-conscious cinema. It is a technique Caine would reprise as the middle-aged philanderer in Blame It On Rio (1983). With Blow Up also released in 1966, and Ken Russell's Women In Love following in 1969, British film-making was truly in the midst of a sexual revolution. Michael Caine would reunite with director Lewis Gilbert and meet his female match in Educating Rita (1983). --Gary S. Dalkin
