As an undercover reporter tries to scoop the story he's been waiting for he soon comes across a kid who has entered the arena unaware of the consequences. Seeing this as another excuse for higher ratings the shows producers announce their new contestant as they witness the fighting skills of the youngster against others - but as the fighters get killed off things take a turn for the worse leaving the reporter and kid to team up against some very tough opponents... human and not-so-human. Six contestants... One million quid... And a sh*t load of zombies!

  Kiss: The Second Coming is a band-sanctioned hagiography focusing on the profit-minded 1996 tour that found the 70s heavy-metal icons back in full-bore makeup and costumes for a time-trip back to their Alive II heyday. At 122 minutes, Second Coming is an hour too long for all but die-hard devotees, and peaks with its opening recap of the band's early fire-breathing years. After that, it's a quick run-through of good-days-gone-bad clichés before the long haul of backstage shots and gee-it's-great-to-be-back-on-the-playground testimonials takes over. Little insight is present, though there is a bit of comic myth-mocking during a sequence demonstrating the inflation of the stage show's gargantuan inflatable figures of Gene, Paul, Peter, and Ace. Less lucky is Dr Watson (Edward Hardwicke), who goes a round with the oversized fellow after he catches him terrorising poor Mrs Maberley. This adaptation may, in all honesty, be an improvement on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original story. As usual, Brett and Hardwicke are an exceptional team as Holmes and Watson. --Tom Keogh
