Live Recorded At The Aula Paolo VI Vatican On 27th October 2007
Cardinal Ratzinger was elected Pope Benedict XVI on 19th April 2005 becoming only the second non-Italian to be made Pope since 1522. The other was his much-loved predecessor Pope John Paul II; and this official souvenir DVD programme featuring exclusive footage from the Vatican traces Cardinal Ratzinger's journey from the death of Pope John Paul II to his enthronement as Pope Benedict XVI. Featuring previously unseen material of Pope Benedict and his College of Cardinals in the Vatican and St Peter's this unique memento will delight all who wish to discover the new Pope's desire for truth and Christianity in the modern world. Pope Benedict XVI was born Joseph Alois Ratzinger in 1927 and grew up under a harsh Nazi regime that was hostile towards the Catholic Church. But it was during these difficult times that he discovered the beauty and truth of his faith in Christ. He received his priestly ordination on the 29th June 1951 and was named Archbishop of Munich and Freising in 1977 by Pope Paul VI. After many years of working with the College of Cardinals and researching theology Cardinal Ratzinger took the first step on his long journey to let 'heart speak unto heart' by being elected Pope Benedict XVI.
