Opening with favourite "Don’t Stop Movin", S Club 7 Party Live certainly succeeds in whipping up an electric atmosphere. Recorded in Manchester during the summer of 2001, the Party includes live performances of all the S Club hits, along with favourite tracks from the albums. The concert footage successfully recreates the vibrant mood of the tour. Tastefully switching to black and white at selected points, there’s also plenty of visual material focusing on the ecstatic audience. Like their TV show, the first part of the concert romantically references 1950s America and the popular culture of the era. Songs "Stand By You" and "You" are performed in a plush Cadillac, while others are staged on a mock Californian beach ("Natural" and "Bring It All Back"). Towards the end of the show the retro theme is dumped for a more gritty, urban-style set and costumes, for favourites such as "Reach" and "S Club Party". S Club Party Live highlights the gang’s all round show-business talents. On the DVD: for a group in the premier pop league the extras on this DVD are remarkably poor. The highlight of the bonus material is the option to view single members of the band performing a song from the concert. Unfortunately this single angle camera footage is typically dull and monotonous (how many times can you watch Rachel waving and blowing kisses at the camera?). The photo gallery is also annoying, comprising selected photos set to a 90-second backing track (the stills can’t be viewed individually or even paused). However there are exclusive DVD-ROM links to the S Club Web site (to access the "pillow case" game or to download an exclusive screensaver) and concert tracks can be accessed individually from the menu. The disc is redeemed though by the excellent stage show and performances, along with top-notch audio and visual presentation. --John Galilee

They may have split up in the early part of 2003 but in the four years that prceded S Club 7 ruled the pop world with a string of memorable hits and television capers. A companion to their greatest hits album this disc focuses on their musical output contains 13 of their finest efforts from early smash ""Bring It All Back"" via well crafted ballads (""Never Had A Dream Come True"") and dancefloor anthem ""Don't Stop Movin'"" to their last single ""Say Goodbye"".

With an accompanying "access all areas" television series, S Club's Carnival 2002 tour was billed as a defining moment of live music to match Lollapalooza. From the opening sequence of seven warrior drummers marching from the auditorium on to the stage, to the walkway that hovers precariously over the heads of the audience, the show clearly has enormous aspirations. Assisted by stunning stage projections, colourful dance routines and costumes, the seven singers successfully manage to conjure up what the title promises: a flaming hot fiesta. Apart from the inclusion of selected tracks from their third album Sunshine, the show differs little from their previous nationwide tour, with favourites such as "S Club Party", "Bring It All Back" and "Reach" all getting priority billing in the show. In a belated acknowledgement to all the mums and dads in the audience, Jon performs a powered-up rendition of Beatles classic "The Long and Winding Road", and the show ends with a pumping medley of 1970s and 80s party hits. The Carnival show may not go down in the history books as one of the defining moments of 21st century popular culture, but it's certainly a spectacular which deserves to be remembered (well, in the short-term at least). On the DVD: Carnival on disc has glossy and colourful visuals, just like the photos in the teen magazines S Club regularly front. The material is occasionally spoilt by cheap-looking visual effects, which would not look out of place on a 1980s edition of Top of the Pops. The 5.1 Stereo soundtrack, though, is excellent and successfully recreates the dynamism of the concert. The bonus features are an improvement on previous S Club DVD releases but not particularly original (an episode from the tour TV series Don't Stop Movin' and a lacklustre picture gallery). --John Galilee

Don't Stop Movin' tracks the group's travels around the UK for their sell-out Carnival 2002 arena tour. From rehearsals to the last night, the nine episodes (originally shown on BBC TV) highlight their travails and tears. The programmes succeed in depicting the human side of S Club, with Paul declaring his love for Hannah and Jo discussing how she was bullied at school (though there are also occasional glimpses of S Club's prima donna showbiz egos along the way). There are plenty of surprises too with Tess Daley appearing on stage at their Glasgow gig to present their Brit Award, and Will Young and Gareth Gates (the support act for the tour) appearing in a number of the episodes. Interspersed with extracts from the live show, the release serves as a taster for S Club Carnival Live. However, the nine episodes do stretch the material to the extreme, with the footage perhaps being better suited for a compact 30-minute behind-the-scenes bonus documentary on the concert DVD. On The DVD: Don't Stop Movin' offers no bonus material or additional features. The colourful feature visuals and crisp sound do at least convey the backstage energy and atmosphere. --John Galilee
