In 1967 Steve Winwood decided to leave the Spencer Davis Group and form his own band - the result was Traffic. This new group gained international success in the late 1960s and early 1970s they are remembered mostly for some memorable and ground-breaking singles and albums that scored high chart placings on both sides of the atlantic. It is without doubt fortunate that Island and Columbia filmed Traffic at the 3000 seat Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in 1972 when the band had just released their definitive album 'John Barleycorn Must Die'. A beautifully shot concert film there are endless camera angles and close-ups of performers from virtually every perspective imaginable - with great shots of band members Steve Winwood Chris White Rebop Kwakubaah and Jim Capaldi. Beat Beat Beat was a German music programme that ran during the sixties. Volume ten in the Beat Beat Beat series of DVD releases features the fabulous Spencer Davis Group. The band although named after the bands guitarist also featured the hugely talented Steve Winwood alongside Steves brother Muff Winwood on bass and drummer Pete York. This DVD taped during the summer of 1966 features the band running through four numbers including the massive hit singles Somebody Help Me and Keep On Runnin.
