Norwegian biographical war drama based on the life of resistance fighter Max Manus who died in 1996. Aksel Hennie stars as Manus who joins the resistance movement in Nazi-occupied Norway and masterminds a series of highly successful sabotage missions against the Nazis. Although he is singled out by the Gestapo as a special target Manus manages to avoid capture. However as the war wears on and many of his friends and associates lose their lives Manus must face up to his inner demons and come to terms with the realisation that everybody is a victim of the meaninglessness of war.
