Beastly is a teen romance about learning how to see past false surfaces to discover true inner beauty. Seventeen year old Kyle (Alex Pettyfer: I Am Number Four) is the spoiled, shallow and an incredibly popular prince of his high school kingdom. Entirely captivated and empowered by his own physical appearance, Kyle foolishly chooses Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen), a goth classmate rumoured to be a witch, as his latest target for humiliation. Unfazed by his cruel behaviour, Kendra decides to teach him a lesson - she transforms him into someone as unattractive on the outside as he is on the inside. Now he has one year to find someone who can see past the surface and love him, or he will remain "Beastly" forever. His only hope, an unassuming classmate he never noticed named Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens: High School Musical), may be his best chance to prove that love is never ugly. Fantasy drama, retelling the classic 'Beauty and the Beast' story with a modern twist. Kyle Kingson (Alex Pettyfer) is a rich young man who is as attractive as he is big-headed. He gets a thrill out of making fun of less fortunate people. When he tricks the goth girl Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen) at school, she uses her dark magic to turn him into a hideous creature. Kyle is then sent away to live in Brooklyn by his father (Peter Krause). While there, Kyle makes a deal with a drug addict (Roc LaFortune) - Kyle will protect him as long as his daughter, Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens), moves into Kyle's home. As time passes, Kyle and Lindy will form an unlikely bond.
