Ciro Guerra directs this action adventure based on the diary by Theodor Koch-Grunberg and Richard Evan Schultes. Set in the Colombian Amazon, the story follows shaman Karamakate (Nilbio Torres/Antonio Bolivar) who helps German scientist Theo (Jan Bijvoet) in 1909 and, 30 years later, American scientist Evan (Brionne Davis), in their search for the yakruna, a rare and sacred healing plant.
