Marlene Clark and Duane Jones star in this black horror written and directed by Bill Gunn. While on a dig in the ancient land of Myrthia, archaeologist Dr. Hess Green (Jones) is stabbed by his assistant George Meda (Gunn) who then turns the knife on himself. Waking the next morning to find George dead but his own wounds miraculously healed, Hess suddenly finds himself with an insatiable thirst for blood. When Hess meets the widow of his attacker, Ganja Meda (Clark), the pair fall in love and plan to start a new life together. Will Ganja ever find out the truth about her new husband?
