Golden Globe winner John Travolta leads an all-star cast in the hysterical comedy that insists it doesn't take much to make it in the movies...just a background with the Mob. Loan shark Chili Palmer (Travolta) is bored with the business. So when he arrives in LA to collect a debt from down-and-out filmmaker Harry Zimm (Gene Hackman), Chili talks tough...and then pitches Harry a script idea. Immediately, Chili is swept into the Hollywood scene: He schmoozes film star Martin Weir (Danny DeVito), romances B-movie queen Karen Flores (Rene Russo) and even gets reservations at the hottest restaurants in town. Film-mad mobster Chili Palmer (John Travolta) goes AWOL from his intended assignment to track down B-Movie producer Harry Zimm (Gene Hackman), who has racked up gambling debts all over Las Vegas. Dazzled by the Hollywood lights, Palmer forgets his debt-collecting duties, deciding instead to pitch in with Zimm to produce a new vehicle for movie star Martin Weir (Danny DeVito). Ties to the criminal underworld are not so easily severed, however, and the co-producers find themselves harassed by Palmer's Miami boss Ray 'Bones' (Dennis Farina) and the equally formidable gangster Bo Catlett (Delroy Lindo).
