Bill Murray is at his wry wisecracking best in this riotous comedy about a weatherman caught in a personal time warp on the worst day of his life! Teamed with a relentlessly cheery producer and a smart aleck cameraman, TV weatherman Phil Connors is sent to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to cover the annual Groundhog Day festivities. On his way out of town, Phil is caught in a giant blizzard, which he actually failed to predict, and finds himself stuck in small town hell. Just when things couldn't get worse... they do! Phil wakes up the next morning to find it's Groundhog Day all over again... and again... and again. During the recurring 24-hour nightmare, Phil starts to realise that he can use it to his advantage - to re-write the vents of his day, and to generally have a whale of a time. But manipulating his day to capture the one woman he really wants is not quite so easy! A truly comic time-warp that everyone will enjoy being stuck in.
Cynical TV weatherman Phil Connors (Bill Murray) has nothing but disdain for the population of Punxatawney, Pennsylvania, the nowhere town he has to visit every year in order to cover the traditional Groundhog Day festivities. Even the attractive company of new producer Rita (Andie MacDowell) doesn't cheer him up, and his mood doesn't improve when he is stranded overnight due to a blizzard. Imagine Phil's horror, therefore, when he wakes the following morning to discover that it is Groundhog Day. Again. For some reason, Phil has become trapped in a Punxatawney time loop, forced to live the same day over and over.... until he gets it right.
