After some past screw-ups police officer Rose Cooper (Witherspoon) gets an opportunity to prove herself when she is given the job of protecting Felipe Riva (Vincent Laresca), who turned informer against cartel boss Vincente Cortez (Joaquín Cosio), and his wife Daniella (Vergara). While collecting the Rivas from their house they come under attack from masked gunmen and Cooper manages to escape with Daniella.
