Claude Barras co-writes and directs this animated adventure adapted from the novel by Gilles Paris. Following the sudden death of his alcoholic mother, traumatised nine-year-old Courgette (voice of Gaspard Schlatter) is befriended by helpful policeman Raymond (Michel Vuillermoz) and taken to a foster home filled with children of a similar age and with equally tough backgrounds. After making friends with fellow orphans Ahmed (Raul Ribera) and Alice (Estelle Hennard), Courgette becomes besotted with newcomer Camille (Sixtine Murat), who arrives at the home after witnessing the tragic murder of her parents. However, when Camille's shady aunt then tries to get custody of her niece and take her away, Courgette and his new companions are forced to spring into action and quickly devise a plan to interfere.
