Tommy Lee Jones, Sean Bean and Melanie Griffiths star in this British thriller written and directed by Mike Figgis. Brendan (Bean) gets a job working as a cleaner in a jazz club in Newcastle. Whilst chatting up American waitress Kate (Griffiths), he overhears two hitmen talking about putting the pressure on the club's owner Finney (Sting) for notorious American property dealer Cosmo (Lee Jones). When Cosmo then turns up in person, Brendan soon finds himself in the firing line as it transpires Cosmo not only has his eyes on the club, he also has a history with Kate.
