Classic French drama co-written and directed by Jean Grémillon. The film follows Marie Prieur (Micheline Presle), a young doctor who moves to the remote French island of Ushant to take up a new job. After initially struggling to win favour with the locals, Marie soon becomes a respected member of the small community and begins enjoying her new life. However, when she meets and falls for handsome engineer André Lorenzi (Massimo Girotti), Marie must make some difficult choices as she decides whether or not to remain on Ushant or return to the mainland with André. The cast also includes Gaby Morlay, Paolo Stoppa and Marc Cassot.
