Michael Caine and Anthony Quinn star in this mystery drama directed by Guy Green. A teacher travels to a Greek island to fill a position made vacant by the mysterious suicide of the previous holder. Bit by bit, he finds himself trapped in a plot laid by a local magus, or magician. He finds himself in ever greater danger, but becomes increasingly enthralled by the perplexing game he is in.
